Finding You...Kanan Jarrus x oc

The Gala

"Everyone in position?" Kanan ask the Ghost crew through comms.

He was currently trying to pull on the bowtie that was too tight on his neck. Kanan and Ezra were going undercover as servants to keep an eye on Kallus and any general that might leave to go the their offices. They were to warn Zeb and Sabine who were to download the information they need from Kallus holocomputer. Hera was to bring the ship with chopper and pick them up to make a quick getaway when it was time.

"Specter-5 and Specter-4 in position." Sabine called through the comms to say that her and Zeb where ready to sneak in. They where waiting a block away from the building where the gala is.

"Specter-6 ready." Ezra was dressed in his tux waiting in the corner room far away from Kanan. He held a tray of appetizers.

"Specter-2 and 3 are in waiting. Good luck, and be careful." Hera told them from the ship she had waiting for the Signal that they need to be picked up.

Inside the Gala people where dressed to impress. Woman with big dresses and their hair done to perfection. Men held their significant other closely like they where showing off their prizes. Different species that were important to the Galactic Empire where all here to show their support. And none of them knew there was Rebels right under their noses.

Suddenly an announcement was made saying that they must start finding their seats for the show.

"Alright everyone eyes up. Its about to start." Kanan said as he showed the way for people to the theater.

As everyone was getting to their seats Kanan kept his eye out hoping to see a glimpse of his old friend.
Ezra kept his eye on his master since he could sense something was going on with Kanan.

"Lady's and Gentlemen. We are proudly to serve our great Galactic Empire! The special show will begin momentarily." An announcement was made once again as everyone was already in their seats.

The crowd was whispering in excitement to hear the voice of the Empire's Mockingbird. Kanan over heard some woman giggling to each other as they commented how lucky the singer Rebekah was to be marrying a higher up general. Kanan shook his head to get rid of the horrible image he had of her and the man together. Thats when the lights dimd and the crowd went silent quickly.

"Introducing The Empires Mockingbird. Rebekah Woods..."

The red curtains lifted to show just one woman standing on the stage with no microphone, just herself. She was dressed in a beautiful long sleeve dress that was decorated with a navy blue color and gold trimmings. She looked to be royalty as her hair was done in an elaborate but simple updo, she only wore a simple necklace and a engagement ring sat on her soft skin hand. She glowed with the light, she smiled softly at the audience as the orchestra began to play.

"I'm trying to hold my breath..." She softly began to sing. She had made a soft gasp sound for herself as she started to sing.

Kanans breath was taken from him just like she sung, as he looked upon the woman.  

"Let it stay this way....
Can't let this moment end..."

She slowly looked around at the audience. 

"You set off a dream in me...
Getting louder now..."

She looked at the audience with a smile as she always loved to sing.

"Can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand...
Will you share this with me?"

Her voice slowly got louder for all the people to hear. Ezra smiled as he never heard such a voice like hers.

"Cause darling, without you..."

Her voice was heard through the comms as the others looked up in surprise to hear such a voice come through. Sabine and Zeb had already started to climb to the third floor, they both paused for a brief second. 

"All the shine of a thousand spotlights...
All the stars we steal from the night sky...
Will never be enough....
Never be enough..."

Her voice got stronger with each word she sung making the song all more touching.

"Towers of gold are still too little..
These hands could hold the world but it'll...
Never be enough..
Never be enough.........!! "

She started to pour her heart into her song. Kanans face was in aw while he slowly walked forward a step. He was captivated in her voice.

"For me..
Never, never..
Never, never..
Never, for me...
For me...."

She got into the music that everything's seemed to disappear for her. She only thought of one person while she sung this with passion.

"Never enough.....!!
Never enough....!
Never enough..!!!
For me!!
For me!
For me......!!!!"

She moved her body with the music as she kept singing higher each note. The orchestra played louder and more intense as she kept singing. Not one of the audience had a frown on their face as she sung.

"All the shine of a thousand spotlights!

Kanan walked towards the back of the stage as he was entranced in the song. He didn't even know his feet moved him. No one seemed to notice him as they themselves where to into the song as well.

She sang with a burning passion with each word. As she looked around deeply focused, a movement caught her eye from the right of her.
Kanan had moved as close as he could get without being seen on stage.

"For me..!!!!!!
Never, never..
Never, never..
Never, for me..!
For me.!!!!!"

She was shocked at seeing him. She believed he  was dead, he looked different but she knew it was him. She believed it was just her imagination and she suddenly began to sing her heart out to him as if he could hear every meaning behind her words.

"Never enough.!!!
Never, never!
Never enough!!!!!"

She poured her heart and soul into singing for him. Her eyes began to water as she remembered their childhood together.
Kanan was breathing heavily like he himself was singing, his heart beats faster when she looked at him for a brief moment.

"Never, never...
Never enough!!!!!"

Ezra and the others where so shocked of the passion in her voice. Hera had to speak out that Sabine and Zeb needed to focus. They proceeded to the third floor, Zeb had to knock a trooper that was standing guard outside the room they climbed in, before they proceeded. They could hear the echos of her voice through the building as the went to Kallus office.

"For me!
For me.!!
For me..........!!!!!!!"

She had grabbed the attention of everyone that no one got up throughout the song. Kanan looked at the audience to see even the toughest generals smile. His eyes had landed on Charles who was sitting front roll, listening to his fiancé sing. This made Kanan realize that their lives were completely opposite, and he couldn't change it. He looked once more at Rebekah before stepping away backwards. They were too different.

"For me..."

She softly sung as she looked to the right of her to see that he was gone.

She blinked away the tears but one managed to fall slowly down her cheek. The audience suddenly stood up and started clapping. The sound made a thundering sound that it made her jump a bit since she was lost in thought. She smiled at the audience as she hid her pain.

Kanan had grabbed Ezra as they snuck out from the theater. No one seemed to notice them as they did.
