Hunger gnaws at me
A vicious, demanding beast
One that can't be tamed.
Hunger grows in me
A fierce terrifying thing
One that can't be named
Hunger growls at me
A great snarling monster
Just give it some food
For crying out loud!
Blood isn't so bad.
Of course, my body tried to reject it after right after feeding on Lobo. Heaving over the toilet, while trying to keep my insides in while my 'just a friend' held my hair back wasn't one of my finest moments in life. All that hard work finally getting around to drinking blood, and I end up tossing it right back up.
Blood. I wish I could say that the taste was disgusting (going in, I mean... nothing tastes okay coming back out), but there is a part of me that thought it was yummier than chocolate while I was drinking. And I never would have imagined that such a thing was even possible. Blood straight from the source is an entirely different flavor than from the bag. Or paper cup.
The other part of me is trying really hard not to believe I actually drank it.
But I did!
I can do this. I can be a vampire. I can drink blood and all that jazz. No problem! I need to step up the whole hunting thing. I can't rely on just one meal source. I would imagine that I can only take blood from a person every however number of days, like when you give blood. I'd hate to bleed Lobo dry.
Speaking of Lobo. I'm a bit irritated that he won't be joining me for the hunt tonight. He's grounded. Sort of. It's the night of the full moon and all the werewolves are in self-imposed lockdown. I've been told that they generally limit their exposure to humans the day before and the day after, too.
Just to be safe.
Safe for them so that their secrets won't be exposed and they won't be hunted down and either killed or used as creepy science experiments. Or become exhibits in the zoo. Safe for everyone else, so we don't all become werewolf kibble.
So tonight, it will be just me and Gabriel. The good thing about hunting with Gabe is that he has all these amazing mind tricks he can do. I can't wait until I learn to mess with people's minds like that! There might have been a time or two when he has caught me rubbing my hands together like a cheesy evil villain and probably doubted if he should teach me ANYTHING. I mean, I HAVE caught him rolling his eyes at me more times than I can count.
The best part is that Gabe can actually give them the suggestion that they WANT to be bitten. He can also make it so people don't notice us, even if we do a little tap dance (not that I tried, regardless of what anyone says). Not that anyone would ever notice me anyhow when I'm near him. No one should be that good-looking. There must be a law someplace against it. He flashes a smile and people forget their names. I wonder how much of it is him and how much of it is the vampire mojo.
Will I have the mojo one day?
I can't wait 'til I do!
"I'm glad to see that you are taking this seriously," he says cheerfully, as he jingles the change in his pockets while we walk down the nearly deserted street. "You must finally be doing your homework."
Suuuuure I have. Or maybe I've been using it for a doorstop. It's one or the other. He gives me one of those looks that makes it seem like he is peering into my soul. I give him my best innocent and charming smile in hopes that I might mojo him into believing me. By the fierce scowl on his face, it doesn't look like he is falling for it.
