Chapter Eleven

Cameron’s POV:

Pull it together! I chanted to myself for the hundredth time. I desperately called out to my family, to no avail. They were all gone.

The things I had heard had only confused me more. It was a desperate longing sob that had caused him to leave. I knew that. And because of that my whole being felt charged and restless, like I was about to explode. Looking down at my feet I slumped against the side of the wall and rested my hands in my head. God! I was so confused. What was happening to me? Grayson may have not terrorized me my first couple of weeks here, but he surely had not been my best friend… Isaac had. Triumphantly, I stood up. I had fought against my own subduing thoughts and won. I was going to talk to Isaac, even if my heart longed to follow someone else. Disregarding those thoughts I opened the door and was assaulted by the smell of tension, and my own fear lingered in the air.

“Darling, I really don’t think it’s best if you go out right now. I don’t want to see you get hurt.” Graced said. The look on her face was exasperated and worried. I looked over at Amelia who only gazed at me with a blank and boggled expression.

“What?” I asked incredulously.

“Do you,” Amelia started, “nevermind.. I would head Grace’s warning Cameron. There may be some things that you don’t understand right now, and if you want to talk I would be honored to speak with you about it.” I narrowed my eyes at her, and stalked past the two of them and exited the house. His scent was suffocating me in the most pleasurable way and I couldn’t stand that. Soon after I decided that the one person I did need to talk to was Isaac. Things had taken an abrupt and disconcerting turn in to confused-ville. Saving no regard for my clothes I shivered and welcomed the shift into my wolf greedily. Surely she of all people would understand my predicament and cut through this situation with instinct and see things for what were they really were. Unfortunately, her idea of setting things right was running after the one we had chased out of our house, and I wouldn’t do that.

Lost in thought, I arrived at my destination and sped up the front steps of and old paneled house that was worn and yellowing. Before I could even yip to get his attention, Isaac stepped out of the building.

“Cameron? Is everything okay?” he asked, looking me over for any signs of injury. With a quick shake of my head I affirmed that I was fine. A slow grin spread across his generous mouth as he pat my head like a dog. “C’mon in gorgeous.” As I sat down in the entry way of his home and waited for him to get something for me to change into.

“Well, my sister’s just a wee bit too small for you two to share clothes just yet, so you’ll have to do with this. It’s mine.” He extended his hand revealing a green button up shirt. Rolling my eyes, I shook my head and dismissed his offering, settling on a gray Suns sweatshirt hanging on the coat rack. After, I had shifted and changed, we settled down on the couch and munched away on pop tarts.

“I’m not gonna lie,” he admitted, “I’m kind of upset that you didn’t take my shirt Cam.” I looked over at him surprised.

“You thought I was going to prance around in your teeniest tiniest shirt the whole afternoon?! Fat chance buddy, I saw right through that. And let me be the first to tell you that your seduction techniques could use a little work.” I said as I poked him in the side to get my point across. His sheepish expression made me grin wickedly.
