Promotion & Behind the Door

Taehyun played with his fingers quietly as he walked into the teleporting pad with the small group of elders. He would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous at all. He was freaking out, not knowing what to think as he followed the leader. He thought he was getting in trouble but sighed in relief when they entered a room with offices.

These ones were much nicer and private and not to mention more quiet than his office was. He hummed softly before looking foreword, the elder male inviting him into his office. He walked inside and sat down in the chair provided as the elder sat in his chair behind the desk.

"Taehyun right?" Said male was a bit startled by the sudden voice but he nodded none the less and the male smiled at him. "I have not introduced myself to you. I am professor Hun, and I assume you already guessed I'm an elder member." He said softly, making Taehyun feel a bit comfortable.

"I've noticed that all of your experiments so far have been successful and that you are very talented"

"Thank you sir" Taehyun said, bowing his head slightly.

"No problem. Anyways, I would like to know if you would be interested in working as a higher up apprentice. You'd be getting better experiments to do, a nicer office, more free reign, and you also gain access to certain rooms. Also I'd like to have your help in a high level experiment."

Taehyun's eyes widened at what he just heard. An  ELDER just asked HIM if all people in the lab if he wanted essentially one of the best promotions he could get. Why in hell would he refuse?

"Or course! I'd love to!" he blurted quickly before realizing how fast he was talking. "I-I mean, it would be a great honor to work with you, sir"

The older male chuckled and looked at the boy "you're funny too! But yes that's great to hear! I'll have an office room prepared for you right away and you can bring your stuff up tomorrow because I'd like to show you what you'll be working on for the next months."

Taehyun nodded with a smile. He was so happy he'd be able to finally have the job he always dreamed of, working with an elder directly on projects and experiments, but he'd be a little lonely without Hueningkai around always bugging him. Oh well, he'll still be able to hang out with him out of work.

The short male followed Mr Hun out of his office and onto a teleporter pad and waited silently before the blue light turned on, sending them to a floor Taehyun recognized as the 13th floor, the very top floor. A floor the lower employees rarely needed to go to. Taehyun wondered what he'd be doing up here since there was barely anyone up here.

"Taehyun?" He heard the older say, turning his face to him " could you sit here? We're going to take your picture for your new ID and special access card, then we are going to have you fill out a form and a few more papers" he said as he gestured to a chair in the room that had a camera in front of it. Taehyun nodded and happily sat in the chair, fixing his hair and jacket to make himself look decent for the picture.

After he was finished reading through and filling out each document carefully, fully understanding the terms and signing them, the older male sent his papers to the ID people to get everything finalized in the system.

Mr Hun led Taehyun through a familiar corridor which Taehyun thought was familiar for some reason. He was about to start wondering what it was that was familiar about it but before he remembered it clearly he looked in front of him and the older, staring right at the thing he wasn't supposed to touch.

The Blue Door

Taehyun's eyes widened as the taller male stopped in front of it, turning to him with a serious face.

"Taehyun. This is a big privilege for you to be allowed in here. You are forbidden from telling anyone what is in here. Do you understand?" The man said. He didn't look as cheerful and bright as he did before, it was a bit frightening.

Taehyun nodded slowly "I understand sir" he answered, curious as to what exactly was behind the door. The man watched Taehyun before swiping his ID card and typing a password into the security pad, allowing the door to open. Taehyun followed his boss into the room, closing the door behind them before walking down the hallway into a white room with desks chairs, lab supplies, computers, and many technical devices while the employees typed away.

Taehyun looked around, admiring how cool the place was, but messy and unorganized. As he was thinking, the elder led him to a room where it was slightly darker but still had a bunch of tech stuff set up, though this section was much more neat. What caught his attention was a window that showed a dark room that you could barely see into because of how dark it is. Mr Hun turned on the lights in that room, revealing a pod-like machine that opened when he powered it on.

Taehyun watched as the pod opened. He was shocked when he saw what was inside.

Inside was what looked like a male human, near his age and he was sleeping. What Taehyun thought was confusing was that the male had chords attached to his neck and a battery symbol was displayed on the top of the pod.

"Mr. Hun, I must apologize but I do not wish to take part in human experimentation, I hope you can understand my concern" he said as he bowed towards the man.

Mr Hun only laughed and pat his back. "Don't worry, that is not a real human" he said and Taehyun looked at him with a confused face.

"Meet 013. He might not look like it, but he's actually an AI robot that only looks like a real human. He can eat, sleep, and 'breathe' just like real humans can. His purpose is to help us by using his abilities of technology manipulation, health recognition systems, and other things. So basically he will stay here while we work on him."

Taehyun listened, amazed by all the things he was learning about said robot. He was exited to be able to work on such a project and it was even more amazing than he even thought before.

"When do I start working with him?"  Taehyun asked excitedly.

"Now now, no need to rush~ you'll start your daily tasks tomorrow. But for today, that's all I have for you. You may go home or start packing your old desk up if you wish"

Taehyun nodded and was about to leave before the man spoke up. "Taehyun, remember, you can't tell anyone about what is in here or else we will have to wipe your memory and move you back to the bottom offices, okay?" Taehyun slowly nodded, not wanting to get his memories wiped. "Good, the passcode to get in is his code name. Your IDs will be finished by tomorrow morning."

Taehyun nodded once again before leaving the blue door room and going back to his old office level. He walked over to his desk and pulled a box out from under it before he started packing his stuff up into it, earning a few looks.

Hueningkai walked over to Taehyun and gasped as he watched him pack his things "Hyung! Why are you packing? Did they fire you? I'm gonna cry and teach them a lesson! How could they fire you just like that you're such a good guy they will regret it!"

Taehyun chuckled at his caring friend and looked at him with a smile. "I got promoted Kai" Hueningkai's face went from sad to happy in a split second before he hugged Taehyun happily.

"Omg I'm so happy for you!! I knew you'd get that higher position you'd always wanted!!! I'm so proud my Hyung is growing up" he said, wiping a fake tear as Taehyun playfully rolled his eyes.

"Thank you Kai, I'm gonna go home now though. I'll see you tomorrow bestie" he said, grabbing his bag and waving bye.

"Bye hyung!" Kai replied as Taehyun left to his small apartment.

'This is going to be the best job ever'
