I never told you, but I was falling in love
I never told you, but I wanted nothing more than to get your attention
I never told you, but you were always planted in my thoughts like wild flowers
Growing uncontrollably and unexpectedly
I never told you, but I never had to
Because the way you smiled back at me said a thousand words in a split second

I never told you, but I studied you
Your hair
Your eyes
Your dainty hands
I never told you, but I noticed
I noticed how your hair swayed
And your eyes wandered
And I couldn't help but see your hand held somebody else's

I never told you but you knew
You knew I wanted your attention
You knew wildflowers grew in my mind
And for just a moment, sunflowers
poked out of your ears too
And your eyes wandered to mine
And your hand itched for my warm touch
You never told me, but you fell in love
And I was in love too
And although neither of us told,
I think we both knew.
