"Beep! Beep! Beep!" You might think this is my alarm clock. Well, its not. Its the most annoying little brother in the world, thats what it is.

"Henry! Would you quit it already? I'm trying to sleep!" I growl, throwing one of my many stuffed animals in the direction of his voice.
"Haha you missed me!" He cackles evily, dancing around my room.
"Mom said you need to get up. Also that tonight you need to pack for your field trip. I still can't believe your going to California!" He pouts.
"Henry I'm like, six years older than you, when you're a senior you'll get to go." I grumble, pulling my sheets back and sliding out of bed.
"See? You can't even do basic math! You are eight years older than me!" He exclaimes angrily.
"Wait," I pause, counting the years in my head.
"Oh yeah, well then I guess you'll have to wait eight years until you can go." I smile meanly down at him.
"Whatever." He said, glaring at the floor.
"Oh you know I'm only playin'!" I laugh, messing up his hair and gently pushing him out of my room.
"Tell mom I'll be down in 10 minutes ok?" I say, not waiting for an answer.

I quickly get dressed in white skinny jeans and a knit sweater with vans and comb through my light brown hair. Grabbing my bookbag, jacket, and shoving my keys and phone into my pocket, I go downstairs.

"Hey mom," I say as I walk into the kitchen, dropping my stuff in a chair and walking to the fridge.
"Morning Shailie, how'd you sleep?"
My mom asks, not really minding, just asking the same question she does every other morning.
"Good." I reply shortly, pulling out the orange juice.
"Make sure you pack your suitcase tonght, sweetie." My mom reminded me, putting two plates of waffles on the table.
"I will." I smile, and sit down with my juice at the table. Pulling out my phone I text my best friend, Natalie.
'hey i'll pick you up around 7:40 k?'
She immediately texts me back with an 'ok'. Shutting my phone off, I dig into my waffles.

"Took you long enough!" Natalie complains as she hops in my car.
"Oh come on Nat, I was three minutes late." I laugh, knowing that she's not mad over it.
"Yeah, yeah, let's listen to some music!" She turns my radio on to full blast and I slightly cring when she starts singing the lyrics to a horrible country song.

"Oh heck no." I say, reaching over and switching the station to a rap song.
"That's better." I sigh, leaning back in my seat.
"Eww!" Natalie whines.
"My car, my music." I state as we pull into our school parking lot.

"Looks like we have another pop quiz today." I sigh as Natalie and I enter our Trigonometry class.
"Nooo," Natalie cries. "I failed the last one!"
"Same." I say grimly, my mouth forming a thin line.
"Ok class! Settle down now! Settle down!" Our teacher, Mrs. Berwhip says forcefully.
"As you can all see, we have a pop-" Mrs. Berwhip is cut off by the sound of the announcements coming on.
"Everybody attending the field trip to California must meet in the library now please, everybody going on the California field trip to the library." The bored front desk lady spoke into the speaker.
"Haha!" Natalie whispers triumphantly to me. "We can get out of the quiz!"
"Alright! Alright! Anybody here going on this field trip?" Mrs. Berwhip asks, annoyed at being interrupted.
A handful of kids, including Natalie and I, raise our hands.
"Go on then." She dismisses us. "So class! Back to that pop quiz..." As we leave the room, we hear everybody groan.
