Sora was as equal as shocked as both Cheongsan and Gwinam. Yes, she was looking for him, but she didn't actually expect to find her best friend in the first place. She guessed luck was by her side, since she just stopped in the room to tie her shoelace.
Maybe awkward is not the best term to describe the atmosphere, but it was kind of suffocating. Sora didn't expect to reencounter with Gwinam. She thought the cafeteria was the last place she would ever see him alive. However, he was standing right across from her. She would have been happy if it wasn't for the fact that her gut feeling was telling her something was off. She then realized what had happened. The knife in Gwinam's hand, the principal laying in the chair bleeding through his neck and Cheongsan holding a phone in a recording position meant something extremely bad. Either Gwinam had something to do with the principal or they were having a small friendly chat.
"Please, I bet Gwinam doesn't know what chatting is" she thought to herself.
"Sora?" Both boys talk among themselves. They immediately looked at each other, but Gwinam let Cheongsan continued. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be with the others?"
The girl didn't know what to say. Actually she did, but Sora wasn't sure how to say it. She wanted to answer his question, yet words wouldn't come out of her mouth. She also wanted to address their situation. Both of them in the same room? Never in million years. She wanted answers, but she didn't know where to start.
At the lack of response coming from the girl, Gwinam decided to say something in a way of breaking the silence.
"Fuck, Sora. You are alive. And you look hot" Cheongsan just sent him an annoyed look his way. "Damn, I just didn't think we would ever meet again. In fact I thought you were going to die back there. I mean, your friends left you behind and you just had a small pocketknife-"
"Wait, wait, wait, hold on. What the fuck it's happening right now?" Sora interrupted Gwinam. He mention when they left her in the cafeteria, and she figured it would be awkward for Cheongsan, since he apologized earlier.
"It doesn't matter, darling. Fun it's just starting. And now that you are here, it would be way more interesting" The way darling rolled out of Gwinam's tongue sent shivers through her spine. He used this word almost everyday, but now it felt different, like he knew something she didn't. And this made her feel annoyed, angry and although she would never have accepted it, it also made her feel terrified.
"You shouldn't be here, Sora" Cheongsan spoke up. "He is dangerous. Why did you leave the rest?"
"Dangerous? Please. Don't you remember we spent literally the whole summer together? She knows me way better than I even now myself. She would rather spent the afternoons with me than with any of you, loser" Sora fought the urge to grab her pocketknife and stab Gwinam in his eye.
"Shut the fuck up, Gwinam" she said trying to keep her calm. "It happened long ago. Just let it go" But deep inside of him, he would never go of the memories from that summer.
He met Sora, and she became his first ever real crush. So when she said to let it go, he couldn't help but to scoff.
