The Locket

Chapter 7: "Wilyugoonadatewithme?"

He waved at her from there and she walked towards there and sat down.

"So, I guess you're feeling better now?" Alexa asked, smiling.

"Yeah, much better." He grinned.

"We haven't ever hung out just the two us before. Lucy and Nathan were always around." Alexa thought.

"So, do you know why Lucy and Nathan weren't able to come?" Oliver asked her, again, trying and failing to sound casual.

"No, but they're probably on a date or something!" she said. She was slightly suspicious now. Oliver was looking quite restless and nervous. "You okay, Ollie?"

"Yeah, I-I'm totally fine." He said, still more restlessly.

They looked around awkwardly for a minute and then-

"Lex, listen. You probably know I like you. Lucy keeps telling me that you like me too. You're so smart, sweet and well, really pretty" he added, blushing "And, er-" he took a deep breath and said really quickly that it was barely understandable-

"Wilyugoonadatewithme?"

Alexa was in shock for a second. This wasn't what she was expecting, but she couldn't complain. Oliver was looking nervous at the lack of response.

"Listen, it's ok if you don't-"

She hugged him so suddenly and tightly that he nearly fell down. He looked quite confused, relieved and happy at the same time.

"So, I'll take that as a yes?" he said, beaming.

"Yes!" she replied, also beaming.

Suddenly there was a rustle of leaves, and Nathan and Lucy came out of the bush, practically bouncing off their feet.

"You were in on this?" asked Alexa, gaping at them both.

"Yes, Lex! Congratulations!" said Lucy as she tightly hugged her best friend, and Nathan patted Oliver on the back, also looking quite impressed that his best friend was able to pull this off. Alexa glanced at Oliver.

"Well, I wanted them to be there so I wouldn't be nervous." He said, awkwardly.

"Aww Ollie that's so sweet!" said Alexa. Oliver grinned.

"Do you know how hard it was to stop her from running out of the bush and pouncing on you?" laughed Nathan, looking at Lucy.

"Well, she's my best friend!" Lucy said defensively, but laughing.

They all laughed and talked for the rest of the day. Nathan and Lucy kept teasing and calling them as "Lovebirds." It was annoying but all the same, it was a really good day. After this whole scene, Oliver and Alexa went to a coffee shop, where they also participated in some karaoke together.

When they all said their goodbyes, and she beamed at Oliver one last time, she headed to her home. Her dad had to work outside in another city, and wouldn't come home for almost 2 weeks or so. She had already eaten dinner with her friends, and so she went straight upstairs.

It took her a while to sleep. She was thinking about today, and about how it had been of the best days ever. She thought about how she had been with Oliver, and then her friends came out the bush. How Lucy and Nathan started dancing at Lucy's home during the afternoon, and how her mother would have reacted when she found out that she and Oliver were a thing. "Good choice" she would have smirked at her, and hugged her. She missed that feeling.

Soon, she fell asleep. She was once again running through the forest. But this time, she was rushing outside the woods. She wasn't wearing her sage green dress this time. It was a normal dress, covered in polka dots. She was finally out of the forest. Alexa suddenly realized where she was. It was the woods near her home. The girl walked to a house. It was Alexa's house. This seems like some time ago... Alexa thought. The style was different. She knocked on the door. A man opened the door.

"Hello, Mr. Cooper. I'm here to meet John."

Alexa was expecting to see her dad when the girl said "Mr. Cooper", but instead it was someone else. Someone who Alexa thought was familiar.

"Ok, dear. I'll take you to his room. Come in." the man replied. They both went upstairs and stopped near a room with a sign that said "knock, please". Completely ignoring the sign, he opened the door.

Inside was a teenager who looked an awful lot like her dad.

"John, your friend is here to meet you."

He looked at the girl and smiled.

"Hi, Daisy! Come on in."

Alexa suddenly woke up, panting and sweating slightly.

"It's mom" she thought "The girl is my mom."
