A few days passed, and her relationship with her friends was growing better and better. Her dad had to stay for work longer, meaning he wouldn't come home in 2 or 3 more weeks. Alexa was fine with this, as she was able to care for the home and she also had her friends to keep her company. One day, Alexa and Lucy decided to make a chocolate cake and surprise the boys with it.
"Okay, now that the batter's done, where is the cake tin?" Lucy asked, putting the big bowl of chocolate cake batter to the side.
Alexa rummaged through some drawers. "I can't find it! It must be in the attic. I'll go and get it."
"I'll prepare the icing till then, okay?"
"Yep, and make sure to save some icing in the can for me to lick." Both girls laughed and Alexa went upstairs to the attic. She moved some boxes and found the cake tin. As she was going, she tripped over another box, and fell face down onto the floor.
"Lex, you okay?" Lucy shouted from downstairs "I heard a loud thud!"
"Yeah, I'm okay!" Alexa said through watery eyes and moved the box towards one side. She then went to pick up its contents that were in it, but then she stopped mid-way. She saw the light blue rectangular box, lying upside down on the floor. She had wanted to forget all this, but now she couldn't resist. She picked up the blue box in the other empty hand, and ran to her room. She hid the blue box under her bed and quickly went downstairs to the kitchen.
"Got it!" she announced happily.
"Awesome!" but then Lucy's face turned into a concerned expression "But...why is your nose so red?"
"Oh, er-" she thought for a second "It's kinda cold, ya know-"
"You fell, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I fell..." Both girls started laughing. Alexa felt so happy, and she couldn't wait to open the box.
The cake was soon ready, and the boys came, too. They all enjoyed the cake. And when everyone went home, Alexa went to her bedroom and opened the blue box. She saw pictures of her mother and father when they were younger. And there she was, the princess...Why hadn't her mom ever told her about being a princess, or having two siblings! This was so incredible! There actually was another world where her mother and family use to be royalty. Now that she came to think about it, she had never met or even thought about grandparents... With all these thoughts buzzing in her head, she fell asleep.
Daisy was in her bedroom. She looked a few years older, somewhere near 22-ish. Then there was a knock on the door.
"Your highness, I have a message from the king."
The princess went and opened the gates.
"Yes? What message has father sent?" she asked.
"He said that he would like you to come to the main hall. Your siblings are already there." He said.
"Very well, thank you." She smiled and the guard gave a bow and left.
What is this about? She thought as she went to the main hall. As the gates opened, she saw her parents sitting on their throne, and her siblings standing in front of them. She quickly rushed to where her family was and stood in the middle.
"Now that you all are here," her father said "me and your mother have been thinking a lot about who should be the next heir." Daisy could see Ansley looking startled at this announcement. For the past few weeks, Ansley had been trying her best to keep her temper around her family and to help the people of the kingdom as well. She had been controlling her powers quite well. The past few years had gone in peace. Daisy and Ansley were good sisters and best friends again. They would spend lots of time with each other, tell each other secrets and do different activities. The only thing Daisy didn't tell Ansley was the fact that she had gone to the other side almost every single day since she was 16. The only other times that The Voice had snapped at a family member was a year ago when it had gotten angry at Erik. Even though everything seemed alright, Ansley was slowly losing control, she could feel it. The thing would probably soon take over, she thought. You'll find out who the heir is tomorrow, during the ceremony. Daisy saw Ansley's eyes flash purple. She was startled of seeing it after quite some time. As they were leaving, Ansley asked her parents if she could talk to them. They agreed and Daisy left the room. She really wanted to hear what they were talking about, though. She felt guilty, but she was very curious. She went outside and pressed her ear against the gates.
