We threw our trash away and went out into the hallway.
Kate elbowed me on my arm, "look who it is!"
It was Christian.
"Kate!" I hissed.
Kate and Marci both giggled
"Oh hey what's over there..?" Marci points down a hallway.
"Wha-?" I question, nothing was there but kids at their lockers.
Suddenly I get shoved hard by Kate diagonally in front of me straight into Christian. A wave of embarrassment and shock strikes through me and I fell the warmth on my cheeks as they turn rosy.
"aye!" Christian turns and catches me from almost toppling to the ground. His arms are held out in front of him, tangled in mine.
"oh I - I - um .. didn't mean .. I'm so sorry" I can hardly manage to speak.
"hey it's okay there's so many people shoving and pushing" Christian reassures me, his voice deep like I remember and his soft brown eyes lure me in.
We are on the side of the hallway as kids continue to pass us, Kate and Marci out of sight. I look down to my arms and Christian follows my glance, our arms are both tangled in one another's from him catching me. In realization, Christian quickly pulls away, a sheepish smile appears on his face. I blush again.
"I didn't get your name?" Is Christian really talking to me right now? Were our arms just intertwined? Wait. Madeline. He's asking what your name is.
"Madeline." I answer softly with a smile.
"Hi Madeline. I'm Christian." He smiles sweetly back.
"Well Christian, you kinda just saved me from public embarrassment there.. thank you!"
He laughs. I made him laugh.
"C'mon kids get to your classes." A teacher standing outside her door says sternly. Her gray hair is slicked back tightly in a bun and wrinkles scatter around her face. I'm glad I don't have her.
Christian shoots an annoyed mocking face her direction when she looks the other way. I burst out laughing causing her head to turn directly towards us in a snap. "shoot," Christian says under his breath
"Hey! I thought I told you -"
Christian and I sprint to the next hallway.
"Well I'll see you later Madeline!" Christian says laughing
"See you!" I laugh also.
