Without the boisterous Natsu in the guildhall, things were very peaceful for everyone.

In fact, because he had to leave together with Lucy and the others for a quest even Gildarts himself couldn't accomplish, the four walls of Fairy Tail were experiencing a Natsu-free phenomenon and everyone was all right with that.

Those who were off might be dying because of powerful creatures beyond their comprehension, but look on the bright side.

Makarov didn't have to pay for broken walls and tables after a certain redhead's outbursts. For a while, anyway.

And Laxus, alongside his Raijin Tribe, were enjoying some booze after finishing a mission that took them a week to deal with.

On a table near theirs were Asuka and her doting parents., the young girl raised in the air, gleefully playing with her beloved father.

"Welcome back from your mission, Laxus," greeted Bisca from her seat. "I assume things weren't much of a hassle?"

"Could have gone worse, honestly," Laxus recollected, his arms resting on the table while gently holding his mug half-empty of liquor. "Some dark guild punks thought it was a great idea to kidnap the clients' daughter for ransom."

"Yeah," Bickslow hollered. "But before they could even get their hands on the kid, they were blown away by some weird magic."

"Weird magic?"

"Yes." This time, it was Freed, but he was more collected than his masked companion. "It resembled a Wind Magic spell. It was completely protecting the girl from the approaching kidnappers and only dissipated when we got to securely round up all the other mages."

By then, Alzack had already let his angel go and was listening in to the conversation. With the girl playing with Romeo at a far corner, the raven-haired shooter couldn't help himself but join in.

"By any chance, was the catalyst a necklace?"

"Actually, yes. It was something the daughter was wearing. She said she got it after purchasing some flowers from a florist in a travelling carriage."

Evergreen continued. "She said her mother wanted one, too, since they found the design interest — and so do I. However, the shopkeeper only gave out one, claiming that the necklace was a protection charm for children."

"What do you know about the necklace?" Laxus was clearly curious.

And that was when both Alzack and Bisca relived what just happened to them and their young Asuka several days prior.

They were on the outskirts of the city being a happy family. While Bisca was setting up their picnic, the father and daughter decided to play nearby. They were chasing each other when both heard screams coming their way.

The man immediately grabbed a hold of his daughter and rushed over to his wife. Later, people were seen fleeing and passing over the duo. After a couple of moments, hair-raising roars reached both their ears. To the experienced Alzack, the incoming terror resembled some wild animals that supposedly lived in a nearby forest.

They didn't slow down to check. Alzack only knew one thing then and that was to protect his family. He could have stood his ground, materialised his guns, and waited for the beasts but he had a child with him. In his mind, Asuka had to be sent to safety. Right away.
