Sunny ended up next to me for the rest of the walk. My hand kept brushing against hers as we walked, afraid of her reaction if I grabbed it.

“If you wanna hold my hand you could just ask, you know?” She whispered, quite close to my left ear. I blushed at the heat of her breath on my ear.

“I- I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I stuttered. Why can’t I keep my composure? She smiled and walked ahead of me, stopping me from letting our hands touch.

“And I was about to grab your hand, too bad I was wrong.” She winked. My eyes widened and my brows furrowed, with a blush still painted on my features. She laughed.

“Nice haul?”

I turned behind me to look at a blonde boy sitting on some crates. Before anyone could stop him, Mylo replied.

“You could say that.” Can I kill my crush’s brother? Think she’d be mad?

~~~
“Vander learns none of this.” I said as I sat fully in the same chair as earlier. We had made it back to the last drop, but Powder lost the bag. Mylo and Claggor sat on one couch with Powder sitting on the other one across the table. Sunny sat at my feet on the ground.
“No worries there, Powder took care of the evidence.” Mylo spat.
Then, Vander walked in.
“Everyone alright?” He asked, eyeing the bruise on Sunny’s right eye. Stay calm and he won’t know.
“Of course.” Mylo replied, trying to “act normal” but failing.
“Ah, good. Then I don’t suppose you could tell why I’m hearing about an explosion and foot chase topside? Five children fleeing the scene.” Shit.
He made his way over to me and Sunny, staring at me with a look in his eyes I’ve only ever seen once before.
“What were you thinking?” He asked.
“That we could handle a real job.” I replied.
“A real job?” The confusion mixed with the anger in his voice.
“We got our own tip, planned a route, nobody even saw.” I attempted to reason.
“You blew up a building.”
“That wasn’t-”
“Did you ever think about what could’ve happened to you? To them?” He interrupted me. I looked around the room at everyone. When my eyes landed on Sunny, She gave me a comforting look. But I just looked down and played with the tips of her hair. I put you in danger. I’m sorry.
“Where did you even get this tip?” Vander asked the room. No one wanted to speak until Powder piped up.
“We heard it in Benzo’s shop.”
“From who?” Vander’s voice became more inquisitive. Powder shrunk back at his tone but still answered his question.
“Little man.”
I stood up quickly, knocking Sunny into the table. Sorry, love.
“I took us there, if you want to be mad, be mad at me. But, you’re the one always saying we have to earn our place in this world.”
“I also told you, Northside’s off limits. We stay out of Piltover's business.”
“Why? They have plenty, while we’re down here scraping together coins! When did you get so comfortable living in someone's shadow?!” I took in a breath and realised what I just said. Sunny stood up knowing what was coming, shooting a look at the others, telling them to do the same. She looked over at Vander as he nodded to her. After everyone else left, she shut the door.
