Viyra's POV

DECEMBER 23, 4289

I opened my medical bag to fit inside basic first aids for this short mission I was gonna tag along in. Packing whatever would be useful in case of an emergency. "Sweetheart- I don't know about all this. They'll be fine on their own." my worried husband, Mylo, confronted as he crossed his arms. He wants us to spend a lot of time together since our anniversary is tomorrow, a day before Christmas. But Miles said I could tag along since medical help could be needed. "It's okay! It won't be long, Miles needs the help! I'm sure Richard would like me to help him since he's going to the mountains." I zipped my bag and gripped it in my hands, prepared to leave.

He grabbed my arm and gave me a worried look, "You could stay home! I know they need help with finding the missing team but I don't want you to get hurt." he whined, not wanting to let me leave. "I know you're excited about tomorrow but I need to do this, it's to save others' lives. They're gonna die out there without any help. I will make you the best dinner you've ever seen if you let me do this mission." he gave it a thought for a moment. Mylo could never pass up a dinner made by his own lovely wife.

"Fine alright- my favorite dinner tonight?" I nodded, "Yep, shepherd's pie, specifically Irish shepherd's pie." I could hear his stomach rumble from the thought of it. "You sure know how to cook, I could eat your food for days hun." he laughed, I giggled along with him. "I mean it's one of my favorite hobbies besides helping others!" I responded.

"Are you sure you'll be okay though? I can come too if you want!" he offered, I shook my head. "I'll be fine babe, just don't snoop around for your gift okay? It's a special surprise! Something you've wanted for a long time!" I pecked him on the cheek, it lightened his nervous mood but I could sense he wasn't fully sure. "I won't, but there's a lot of things I've wanted for a long time, dear. Please stay safe out there though. The mountains are dangerous. I'll be waiting for you." I gave him a real kiss for a few moments until I opened the door to leave. Wrapping my arms around him in a hug.

The two of us sat in that hug for almost five minutes, not wanting to let go. But someone eventually had to let go anyway. "I'll be home soon sweetie! Goodbye!" he happily waved as I closed the door. Walking to the area where Miles called all the recruits he's taking with him. I saw the younger man standing there with a full team already, giving out small commands.

"Hello Miles!" I waved, carrying my bag of supplies with me as I skipped over to the sergeant. "Oh you're here- do you have everything?" I nodded in response. He called for everyone to gather up. It didn't take us long to set off on our journey toward the mountains. The reason he called for this was that one of our other teams a few hours ago got stuck under a snow pile and needed help and medical aid.

Richard thought it would be perfect to have Miles as the leader for the journey. He allowed me to go since he's heard I'm great at first aid. He's not wrong, I'm top in my nursing skills! We had taken a helicopter first so the journey was a little quicker and had found a spot to land only after a small bit of searching. As the mountains are, it was freezing cold.

This is the coldest weather I've ever stepped in. I'm glad I dressed well for this! Though this seems like a disaster for a blizzard, maybe this was a bad time to go find the team. The dozens of us walked through the heavy snow, some of it tripping us from being so thick. I walked behind Miles as I barely knew the other soldiers and knew he'd keep us safe.

"Where do you suppose they're stuck?" I asked, looking around only to see the blistering night skies and snow. "They're in this area, their radios had pointed to this area. However, we have to look in case snow got them." He spoke, shouting at the other men to look in different directions with their flashlights and equipment.
