I danced across the foyer of the hotel and spun around in circles as I admired the ceiling, the ground, the walls... the whole place being totally empty. Even the receptionist had turned in for the night, the only person hanging around; a single security guard at the front door. Big Montain's 'Baby, I love your way' could barely be heard over the speakers; background noise that bounced off of the walls.
The tiles were cool against my feet as I slowly edged my way towards the elevator, heels hung loosely in my hand.
Johnny followed slowly behind, still recovering after vomiting once more in the cab. He hobbled like an old man with a sore hip, but had the biggest grin on his face as he watched me dance.
"That is so awful." He slurred, letting out a wheezing laugh.
"My dancing?" I asked, walking into the elevator. He moved quicker so he'd make it before the doors closed.
"If you could call it that." He smirked, looking straight ahead.
We stood in silence as we listened to the music hum over the speakers. I think it hit us both at the same that we were now alone together, and what had happened last time when we were in the same position.
I don't think we'd be stupid enough to make the same mistake twice.
"I can barely see," Johnny laughed, "I'm so tired."
"Same," I mumbled, pulling a hand through my hair, "But I think it's cause I'm still drunk."
He kicked his heel against the wall of the elevator as we watched the number get higher and higher.
DING.
"Room key." He demanded, holding his hand out as we approached the door.
"I think I can manage that." I scoffed lightly, missing the card reader before actually managing to unlock it.
I flicked the light switch on and took a long breath out as I turned to say goodbye to Johnny, but he managed to push past me while I wasn't looking.
"Hey!" I called after him as he walked into the bedroom, "Get the fuck out of there!"
"I wanna see the view Jeff was telling me about," He explained, and I walked in to see him hugging the window and his face pressed against the glass, "It's beautiful."
I went to tell him to fuck off again but I became distracted by the view as well. The Opera House was totally lit up against the night sky. It was fucking surreal.
"Can you stop licking the window." I snapped, grabbing my suitcase and unzipping it.
Johnny licked it once more out of spite and pushed himself off of the glass and onto the bed, making himself totally at home which he had a habit of doing. And like I'd seen him do once before, he grabbed the remote and started surfing the TV channels.
I was too fucking tired to tell him off, so I grabbed a pair of underwear and my Black Crowes tshirt and headed for the en suite to shower.
I closed the door and stripped down, running the water until it ran warm.
It felt good being able to wash away the vomit and dirt that the night had thrown at me. I was already feeling refreshed after a couple of minutes but I was going to use everything this fancy room had to offer, including all of it's hot water.
I heard the door click open and thought nothing of it as it was most likely Kristen who had come back and needed to use the toilet.
"This place is so fancy!"
I gasped as I heard Johnny flush the toilet, and I peered around the curtain to see him with his hands on his hips admiring the room.
"I'm showering," I said sternly, "Get out."
