"I swear to god, if this fucking car breaks down, I will be breaking down too."

Kristen had her seat laid all the way back like the idiot she was, sunglasses propped over her eyes and arms folded across her chest.

"Have faith in her. She's old but she's trusty."

I grinned as I stroked the dashboard and a wave of dust invaded the air.

Kristen lowered her sunglasses, glaring at me.

"We're going to see THE Wolfmother tonight and you've placed your trust in this thing; which, I have no doubt, has seen World War 1."

"My budget's so tight I'm THIS close to eating the popcorn off the floor of the cinemas. Monster House is screening at the moment and I shit you not nearly every row has two buckets just strewn all over the floor."

"Don't you get free popcorn?"

"That's besides the point. I'm trying to tell you that I can barely afford to feed myself; let alone buy a new car."

I don't see Kristen with her own car, anyway. She may be my best friend of 10 years but she's a pain in my ass sometimes. But there's no one else I'd rather be doing this with.

Kristen and I found Wolfmother in 2005. One of Kris' junkie friends invited us over for drinks and he had a mix of songs playing. We were well out of it when we heard our first taste of Wolfmother - Mind's Eye. We both sort of went quiet and actually listened to it. We glanced to each other once the song was finished, and Kristen sat up.

"Jeremy," She turned to her junkie mate, who was currently huffing god knows what, "who was that?"

Boom. Like a fucking movie.

I saved up a shit load of money this year to buy us tickets for front of stage. I thought as it was my birthday a couple of days before, I could also treat myself to a couple nights away in a nice hotel room. Kristen paid for the hotel, I paid for the tickets.

"I'm so fucking excited, dude, you have no idea." Kristen grinned, sitting herself up.

"So pumped to get there so we can just go." I said, spotting the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the distance.

"We might spot the Jackass guys before it starts!" Kris squealed, reapplying her lip gloss.

I stared blankly at her for a quick second before I reverted my eyes back onto the road.

"Is that like, the opening act? Is it another band?" I asked, completely confused.

"No... it's those guys from MTV. They're helping Wolfmother shoot a music video."

"Holy shit! We'll probably be in it, Kris!" I'd never been more excited in my life - this shit just gets better and better.

"I mean, yeah. But also the Jackass guys are a pretty big deal AND they're hot. You should see Bam." Kris smirked.

"Sorry, still hung up on the fact that they're SHOOTING A MUSIC VIDEO TONIGHT!!??? Kris, this is fucking awesome!" I was shaking my head in disbelief and my face was aching from smiling.

I turned up the volume on the radio and unintentionally drowned out Kristen talking about ways of getting to and from the concert safely. I didn't really consider that important - we were only a couple of blocks away from where it was being held.

SOS by Rihanna started playing and now even Kristen had stopped talking. We were screaming the lyrics as we submerged into Sydney's traffic.

We definitely weren't ready for what was about to happen later that night...
