The warmth of the heating whooshed past me as soon as I stepped inside the small downtown CD shop I worked at. I quickly shut the door to prevent any cold air from entering and smiled slightly as I looked around the small crammed area and saw we had only 1 or 2 customers.
"Finally Av!"
I spun around to face Jason, my boss. He's more family. He's the only one that doesn't judge me based on the things he hears, he simply ignores them.
"Sorry Jason, I got held back at school."
Stupid Mr. Anderson. Seriously, who holds a student back and gives them a lecture for zoning out? Short tempered much? I think so. I'm positive I'm not the only one that wasn't giving him my full attention, but he just loves to pick on me.
"Mm whatever. Just get behind the table." He rolled his blue eyes at me. Jason is the basic musician type. One glance at him and you know he's a musician. He's around 25 with dark brown hair that spiked at the front so it doesn't hover over his eyes. He always had tape wrapped around his thumb and first finger, showing that he was a guitarist. He was also pretty attractive, nice built and all. He always wore his band t-shirts with jeans and converse. He's an easy going guy that opened up this place solely for his love of music. He's pretty popular with the ladies, with his good looks and the instrument he plays. He used to be friends with my older brother when they were younger. They were absolutely inseparable their entire lives. That is.. until two years ago. I shook that thought away. He knows about my other job, but he never really says anything about it. He knows why I do it. He's really important to me, and I love him.
I pinned my name tag to my black t-shirt after slipping off my jacket and gloves and situated myself behind the cash register.
"Jason, you mind if I leave a little early tonight?" I asked hesitantly. I knew I had been coming late and leaving early too much, and even though Jason is easy going, he still gets irritated.
"Why?"
I have a job today. A big job I need to be ready for.
"Lots of homework." I lied smoothly. His eyes narrowed in suspicion before a sigh left him and he pointed his taped finger at me.
"Last time Damani." He said firmly before turning to go to the back of the shop. I grinned at his back. He says that to me every time and never keeps to his word. He's just too nice.
"Excuse me?"
I turned around and found a guy about my age looking down at a CD in his hand while he talked to me. I couldn't see his face or anything, because of the way he positioned himself, but I somehow knew he was attractive. Not to mention his strong voice..
"Yes?"
"How much is this CD for?" He asked as he handed it to me, not once looking at me. Come on damn it, look up.
I checked the cover of the CD and handed it back to him.
"It's an old classic. Those are 7 bucks each."
His eyes finally met mine and I almost had a heart attack.
This guy was gorgeous.
"I'll take it." He slid the CD on the table and placed a 10 dollar bill on top carelessly. I held my breath as I bagged the CD and willed myself not to look at the guy so I don't pass out or do something stupid like stare.
I can't even explain it. He wasn't just hot or cute; he was beautiful. Utterly breath taking. His beautiful light brown hair looked almost golden under the light, and his bright hazel eyes shone with a spark. He had a sharp and chiseled face, curved and shaped to perfection, his body all the same.
"Here you go sir." I said with my voice strong as I handed him his change and item. He smiled a dazzling grin with straight white teeth and took the things from my shaky hands.
"Can I ask you something?"
My eyebrows furrowed at his question and immediately I put my guards up. He's probably heard rumours and wants to confront me or something. I gave him a short nod, somewhat afraid of what he had to say. Hot or not, if he was going to ask me if I had drugs for him, I would kick his ass out of this store and ban him from ever coming back.
"What's your favourite boy band?"
I blinked at his question.
"Boy... band?" I asked, unsure if I heard him right. He gave a short nod in confirmation.
"Erm.. The Script." I said, somewhat hesitant. I mean seriously, it's not everyday some gorgeous stranger asks you what your favourite band is for no reason.
He cocked his head to the side, causing his beautiful brown hair to move too. My hand itched to reach out and touch his soft looking hair and feel just how soft it actually is. Of course, I didn't do that though.
"Why?"
I shrugged at his question.
"I don't know, I just like their music, and I feel like it comes from the heart."
His eyes squinted a little bit as if looking right through me. I didn't mind it at first, but after 10 seconds I was starting to feel uncomfortable. His hazel eyes felt like they were seriously burning holes into my soul. Thankfully, he cleared his throat and stood up straight, his entire aura turning serious.
"Listen to me carefully. The thing that you have planned tonight, cancel it." He said to me firmly. My lips parted in surprise. He couldn't possibly know.. no one knew other than me and the guy Joey.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I answered in a daze. Of course though, this guy didn't look the least bit convinced. In fact, he looked almost amused at my denial.
"Avalon, be careful. I know you know what I'm talking about."
By now, I was feeling suspicious. This guy knew. I could tell. How does he know though? I don't understand. Besides, it's not like this is my first job. I've done this before, it's nothing new. Who's this guy to be telling me what to do anyways. He's just some stranger for crying out loud!
"How do you know my name?" I asked him suspiciously. He chuckled as his eyes lit up once again.
"Name tag."
Heat rose to my cheeks and I looked away in embarrassment.
Way to go Avalon, embarrass yourself in front of the hot guy that knows shit about you. Smooth.
"W-what ever. Can I help you with anything else?" I spat out. He chuckled again and shook his head.
"Take my advice Avalon."
He turned and walked out of the shop, leaving me dumbfounded and confused.
