From the sound of plates rattling, breakfast was ready to be served. Well...in this case a very late afternoon one. Yuna was stunned to learn she'd slept for so long. She hadn't intended to pass-out for more than a couple hours. Obviously, she needed the rest.
The dining table had two places set with a vase of fresh daffodils in the center. Yuna took a seat in one of the high-backed chairs next to where Tidus usually sat at the end and drummed her fingers on the table's rich, wooden surface, anxiously awaiting the meal her fiancé had prepared for them. The grandfather clock beside the dining cabinet, chimed three times, announcing the hour of the day. She was starved. And at this point, certain she could eat a whole drake.
"Afternoon beautiful." Tidus greeted her with a charming smile as he emerged from the kitchen dressed in a pair of shorts and a tank-top, carrying two plates of food. Carefully, he set their meals onto their respective placemats then pulled out his chair, only to stop and wince in mild aggravation. "Ugh...one sec. Forgot the juice."
Yuna couldn't help but smile. This man was truly amazing. And boy did he know how to cook. Being orphaned at such a young age had forced her fiancé to learn a certain number of domestic skills. Of course having Auron around when he was a child had helped some. But from what Tidus had mentioned, the legendary guardian was anything but gifted in the kitchen. And as embarrassed as Yuna was to admit it, cooking wasn't part of her repertoire either. Unlike Tidus, she had a type of family after her father had died, and rarely had to make a meal on her own, since she was the youngest among them. That and the few times she had tried to cook, things tended to...ignite.
"Here we go." Her fiancé returned with a pitcher of orange juice and proceeded to pour them both a tall glass, before finally joining her at the table. "That was some nap. I was just about to wake you when I heard that stupid wardrobe creak. Figured you were up at that point looking for something to wear."
Ah, yes, the wardrobe. A subject she'd rather not think about at the moment. In the spirit of honoring just that, Yuna dove into her waffles and omelette, absently sighing in bliss at the rich, savory flavors.
Tidus chuckled. "That good, huh?"
"It's almost better than sex."
"Oh, I dunno about that." His eyes sparkled with mirth as he chewed. "But we can always put it to the test later."
This man had an impressive sex drive and almost always looked for a way to sate his appetite where she was concerned. Not that she minded. After all, it was why she initiated the flirting in the first place. Playing coy, Yuna took a sip of her juice then pursed her lips in an effort to hide the smile she felt tugging at the corners. "I said almost."
Her fiancé took the bait and tossed a wicked grin her way. "Well...I can't have my kitchen skills surpass my bedroom ones. So, I guess I'll have to do something about that, won't I?"
Flirting with Tidus could be dangerous. He always knew how to get his way. Still, she pressed forward, enjoying the adrenaline rush as she ate. After swallowing the bit of waffle she'd been chewing on, Yuna flashed him a saccharine smile, and slightly tilted her head to the side. "Maybe we can combine the two and work on those bedroom skills in the kitchen."
Tidus about choked on his food, forcing him to take a sip of his juice. "Wow!" He cackled in astonishment. "I wasn't expecting that. You're hungry for a lot more than what's on your plate, huh?"
Feeling a little embarrassed, Yuna bit her bottom lip, and looked away. "I like flirting with you," she admitted. "It's fun."
"Well, you've gotten pretty good at it. I'm very tempted to take you up on your offer, right now."
