the man stands there, trying desperately to convince his boyfriend—or perhaps soon-to-be ex-boyfriend—to stay. his eyes burn with anger and disappointment as they lock onto the younger one.

he had grown genuinely fond of hanuel over the past year, only for the boy to shatter his heart with a single, irreversible decision.

"hanuel, please try to understand. i like you, baby. i’d be completely lost without you. just… stay with me." jungkook’s voice cracks, tears brimming in his eyes as he pleads.

this is the first time he has ever known heartbreak. now he’s begging for a second chance, grasping at the fraying threads of their relationship.

hanuel turns his face away. seeing jungkook like this—raw, vulnerable, pleading—tears at his own chest, but he can’t stay. not anymore. his heart already races for someone else, someone who isn’t jungkook.

"i’m sorry, hyung," hanuel whispers, eyes squeezed tightly shut. "i have to go. i’m in love with someone else now. i can’t live without him."

he had once loved jungkook, truly. but everything changed the moment he met the other man. the emotions he feels now are deeper, brighter, more consuming than anything he ever experienced with jungkook.

they never even slept together—jungkook had always been patient, respectful, waiting. yet hanuel had given himself to someone else within a single week.

"i hope one day you can forgive me," hanuel says softly. "and that you find someone who’s really right for you."

with those final words, he walks out of jungkook’s apartment—the same space where they used to cuddle on the couch, watch movies tangled together, and cook side by side in comfortable silence.

jungkook glares at hanuel’s retreating back, watching the boy walk out of his life without looking back. he had been nothing but loyal. patient. respectful of every boundary.

and this is what he gets in return?

"hanuel!" he shouts after him, voice raw. "i’ll never forgive you. do you hear me? never!"

the words echo uselessly in the empty hallway.

he had let himself like the boy—really like him—and now grief claws at his throat. trust feels like poison. the words "like" and "love" taste like lies.

he doesn’t want to cry over someone who cheated, who threw him away so easily. But it hurts. god, it hurts.

jungkook scrubs angrily at the tears spilling down his cheeks. "i’ll never like anyone again. i’ll never love anyone. you broke my heart, hanuel. you made me question whether love even exists."

his voice rises to a broken shout. "you said you loved me! you looked me in the eyes and said it! was it all just bullshit?"

fury surges. he grabs the nearest object—a framed photo of the two of them smiling—and hurls it across the room. glass explodes against the wall, shards scattering like broken promises.

he stands in the wreckage, chest heaving, breath ragged. the apartment feels suddenly enormous, suffocatingly quiet without hanuel’s soft laughter, without the gentle hum he made while doing dishes.

the couch still holds the shape of their bodies from last week’s movie night. the kitchen counter bears faint knife marks from vegetables they chopped together. the blanket lies crumpled exactly where they left it.

every corner stabs.

slowly, jungkook sinks to the floor, back pressed to the wall, knees drawn up. he stares at the shattered frame. hanuel’s smiling face peers up through jagged cracks, mocking him.

his trembling fingers reach out, hover over the photo, then jerk back as though burned.

"why did you do this?" he whispers to the empty room, voice splintering. "i trusted you. i really trusted you."

the tears return, hotter, unstoppable. he doesn’t fight them anymore. they fall freely, soaking into his shirt, pooling in the hollow of his collarbone. the pain sits heavy in his chest like a stone no one can move.

all gone. traded away in one reckless week.

he presses the heels of his hands against his eyes, trying to erase the images: hanuel laughing with someone else, touching someone else, feeling things with someone else that he never felt with jungkook.

"i was patient," he mutters, voice trembling. "i was so fucking patient. i never pushed. i never demanded more than you were ready to give. and this is how you repay me?"

his voice cracks into a shout that bounces off the walls. "you said you loved me!"

he surges to his feet, pacing the ruined living room, stepping over glass and scattered memories. his hands rake through his hair, tugging hard enough to hurt.

"i hate you," he says, but the words come out fragile, almost pleading. "i hate you for doing this to me. for ruining everything."

yet beneath the hate lies something far larger—grief, betrayal, bone-deep loss.

he stops at the window, staring into the dark street where hanuel disappeared.

"you broke me," he whispers to the night. "you really broke me."

jungkook turns back, kneels once more beside the ruined photo. this time he doesn’t reach for it. he simply looks.

"i’m done," he says quietly, the words settling like a vow. "no more liking. no more hoping. once was enough."

he closes his eyes and lets the tears fall unchecked. lets the ache root itself deep where no one can ever touch it again.

the apartment stays silent except for his uneven breathing and the low hum of the refrigerator.

hanuel is gone.

and jungkook remains, alone on the floor amid the wreckage of what used to be his happiness, swearing to himself—over and over—that he will never let anyone close enough to hurt him like this again.

never again.
