the sun is settling low in the sky, painting everything in warm shades of orange and pink as a gentle breeze flows through the calming atmosphere. the beach stretches out almost completely deserted around them, just the soft sound of waves rolling in and the occasional cry of a distant seabird. jimin and jungkook walk slowly along the shoreline, bare feet sinking into the still-warm sand. their fingers are tightly interlocked, palms pressed together, creating that perfect little pocket of heat between them. warm, contented smiles rest on both their lips, the kind that come naturally when everything feels exactly right.

every few steps, jimin steals a glance up at his husband. his eyes soften instantly, lips curving into an even brighter smile each time their gazes meet. jungkook notices every single look. he smirks quietly to himself, amused and secretly delighted by how obvious his husband is being, but he doesn’t say a word. the action is far too cute — the way jimin’s cheeks round slightly, the way his lashes flutter just a little — and jungkook doesn’t want to interrupt something so sweet.

jimin’s heart beats loudly in his chest, especially whenever jungkook gives his smaller hand a gentle squeeze. the simple touch sends tiny sparks up his arm. he smiles cheekily to himself, unable to hide how much he loves every single moment like this. this is the husband he has fallen so deeply in love with. the love of his life. the man who made falling in love feel effortless, natural, inevitable. the way jungkook is — quiet strength mixed with unexpected softness, small caring gestures that mean the world, the way he looks at jimin like he’s something precious — all of it pulled jimin in completely. and now, knowing he gets to spend the rest of his life with this man, jimin feels nothing but grateful and impossibly happy.

suddenly jimin stops walking. jungkook halts too, their joined hands tugging him back gently. he turns to look at his husband with mild confusion, eyebrows lifting slightly. “what’s wrong, baby?” he starts to ask, but before the words can fully leave his mouth, jimin’s face lights up with the brightest, most radiant smile. without warning, he rises onto his tiptoes and presses a quick, sweet peck to jungkook’s lips.

jungkook blinks, then lets out a small, amused laugh. the corner of his mouth quirks up into a fond smile. “what was that for?” he asks, voice low and teasing.

jimin looks down shyly, suddenly fidgeting with their intertwined fingers. his cheeks flush pink under the golden light. when he glances back up, his eyes curve into perfect little crescents — that signature eye smile that always makes jungkook’s heart stumble. “i’m showing my love, kookie,” jimin says softly, voice barely above a whisper but steady with sincerity. “i love you so much.”

the words hit jungkook like a quiet wave. his playful expression fades. his face grows serious, almost solemn. his heart starts pounding so hard he’s sure jimin can hear it. a thin sheen of nervous sweat beads along his forehead despite the cool breeze. he opens his mouth, but nothing comes out right away. he knows — deep down, he has known for a while now — exactly what he feels for jimin. but saying it out loud? is he ready? memories flash uninvited through his mind: hanuel’s voice promising forever, promising love, only to disappear and leave nothing but emptiness behind. what if the same thing happens again? what if jimin leaves one day too? the thought alone makes jungkook’s stomach twist painfully. he wouldn’t survive losing jimin. not now. not after tasting what real happiness feels like. jimin makes him feel alive. loved. safe. wanted. cherished. he makes the world make sense.

jungkook takes a shaky breath, ready to try and find the words —

but jimin speaks again, cutting through the silence gently.
