"What the.."

"Suday, October 2nd, 1994" Nick Goode spoke. "Wanna tell me what happened?"

"We were picking up Sam's prescriptions" Deena spoke.

Deena made Brooke rehearse everything she was gonna say. She went to the hospital but she was healed enough to go to this interview.

"They were picking Sam prescriptions and I had to go grocery shopping anyway so I went with them" Brooke changed up the lie.

"And the lights went out, it was pitch black" Josh told the officer.

"I couldn't really see anything" Sam stated.

"We ducked behind a counter" Josh added.

"But since it was dark, we all pretty much got hurt" Brooke reported with a straight face.

"We hid until it was over" Deena stated, not looking at Nick

"How'd you get those?"

The others mentioned falling on glass.

Nick pointed at Brooke's wounds. Brooke sighed, lifting up shirt slightly to reveal the bloody gauze on her abdomen.

She was quiet for a second.

"Hit my head while I attempted to hide" Brooke stated, making eye contact.

"Also got stabbed by a sharp object which I didn't see" she added.

Nick slightly shook his head. He inhaled shortly.

"I'll tell you what the facts tell me" Nick started. "The junkies—"

"Oh hell no. My best friends? You kidding me?" Brooke asked in disbelief.

"They weren't junkies"

"They were my friends"

"They are- were my best friends, how dare you say that." Brooke told him sternly.

"They're to blame for everything, that feels too easy to me" Nick told her, making anger bubble up even more in Brooke.

She glared. "But that's the story the department will go with unless you wanna tell me differently" he added.

"Another Shadyside tragedy"

"An underpriveleged overachiever with bright prospects. A guy who's been supporting his family alone since he was 15" Deena stated.

"If.. You do go by this narrative" Brooke started, "Don't forget to put the other facts" she added.

"Other facts?" Nick asked, confused.

"The other facts. The fact that you and the other police of Shadyside are ignorant assholes who should've believed us in the first place." Brooke told him sternly, her voice raising slightly.

"The fact that because of this town that YOU failed to protect, they died. That's the correct and ONLY narrative the department needs" Brooke continued, tears were in her eyes as her voice broke.

"Both teens succumbed to drugs. Fits the narrative right?" Deena asked. "Nice and neat"

"Brooke, we found your fingerprints on Kate's body. Would you like to explain that?" he asked her, making her stare in disbelief.

Brooke sighed. "I was devastated, and most devastated people would hug the people they love. She was dead. Both of them, and I.. I couldn't do anything about it but cry"

Nick nodded and clicked the button, turning the recorder off.

He leaned towards the table.

"I know you're emotionally unstable right now" Nick told her.
