(Y/n) was just now entering her apartment and taking off her coat. All Jack did was annoy her with stupid comments and what not. He acts like every boy at her middle school. But he seems important to Medda and Medda is important to (y/n) so why nit be "friends" with him, if that's what you want to call it. She continued to get ready for bed but still thought about why Jack decided to hang out with her instead of his newsie friends. She just couldn't understand him.

________

(Y/n) was about to go talk to one of her theater friends and decided to take a short cut past the stage but stopped when she saw Jack painting another background.

"What are you painting?" (Y/n) asked, making Jack jump and bolt around to see who it was. "Santa Fe," Jack responded shortly, "I want to live there once Ies get enough money." "Ah I see," (y/n) said staring at the beautiful painting. It was a mountain with a large lake around it, the sky behind it was pink with hints of orange and yellow and a little bit of red where the orange and yellow met.

"I thought everyone wants to come to New York, why do you want to leave?" (Y/n) asked even though she could see why. Jack went on about how even though he hadn't seen Santa Fe, he still talked about how much better it was compared too New York and how him and his buddy Crutchie are gonna go together.

(Y/n) listened to the first half but soon zoned out while being focused on Jack's face and how he was so sure he would move there one day. She had to take a photo of him in her mind. It was too perfect to not draw.

________

When (y/n) got back to her apartment, she automatically grabbed her sketch book, pencils, and her oil pastels and got to work drawing him. She thought it was creepy at first and regret drawing him buy she couldn't stop herself when drawing him. Each of his facial features from his nose to the small crests in his eyelids. She drew in great detail. When she was done she considered giving it to him but refused due too the fact he might find it creepy and he would avoid her at all costs. For some reason, (y/n) dreaded that idea and put it in the back of her mind.

_______

Ends out (y/n) decided to show him anyway, her heart thumping with fear and she stuttered when explaining to him why she did it. "I-I thought you looked so intent about your art a-a-and how you wanted to move that I had to draw you. I now it must be creepy and I-I'm sor-" "It's great! And no youse ain't creepy, when an artist sees something great, they have to draw it. I understand that." Jack interrupted, " so, does this make us friends? Because I think it would be kinda weird to draw someone who's not your friend," Jack asked, "I suppose so," (y/n) responded, "then that settles it! We are friends now and you now have to put up with not only me but the other newsies." (Y/n) sighed with a slight smile at his wacky remark. (Y/n) never thought she would see the day she would be friends with a gut like Jack Kelly.

(A/n)

Hey so I decided that I would just write a chapter a day and see where it goes from there. Cool? Cool.
