Reader gender: Female
Warning: None.
I'm using "[____]" for both the reader's name and hero name.

I was swinging around Gotham's buildings with my gadgets, monitoring the city and checking that everything is in order.

Since Gotham is so dangerous, I can't go off guard, although it is curious, lately the most dangerous villains don't appear. Not Poison Ivy, Livewire or Catwoman. This doesn't mean there's no crimes, this is the  criminals' cradle after all.

–Help! –And there it is, time to work.

I approached to know what is happening

–No one's going to help you old woman. –Your classical robber, something easy, to start. This man, buff and around 6'5 was stealing to an old lady, pathetic.

–Hey, you. Hand the lady her purse, and surrender. –My demanding voice called his attention.

–And what will you do, tiny one? –His voice flaked for moments, but he tried to hide it.
I'm a well known hero here, people know I only attack if necessary, but that's enough for them to fear me, somehow.

–I said surrender. Now. –The man hesitated for a moment and then run.

Running away was a stupid opinion, I caught him in seconds, cornering him in a dead end.

–The purse. –I demanded again. He growled and tried to punch me, but I dodged. –Well, I guess there's no choice...

I decided to use my powers, using them reminded me of mom, though never met her, I had a picture of her. She left when I was a baby, leaving me in the care of my father, as I understand it, and the only thing I know about her, is that she's powerful.

I stretched out my hand towards the man, my gaze turning totally dark, the rober began to writhe in agony, painful memories flashing through his mind.

–No! Please, dad, leave me alone! No! No! –I shrank in my place, uncomfortable, this is the main reason why I only fight with my powers if I really need to.

My power consists in appear people's weaknesses, I also can mess a little with people emotions, but, since I don't have anyone to train me properly, I still don't fully control it.

After so much emotional pain, the man fell unconscious. I went over to put the handcuffs on him and retrieve the bag.

I made my way back to the lady, and gave her the purse.

–Thank you young lady.

–No problem, ma'am.

The woman turned and started walking, and I knew I had to go too.

—[____]. –I recognized that voice in seconds, my father... —Time to talk.

I turned around and found him in his Batman persona. He wasn't looking at me like he always did whenever I used the suit, not as if I was a stranger, something told me he now knows my identity. And he looked upset.

I walked towards him, unsure of this. He took us to the roof of a building.

–So this is what you've been doing, [____]. –I remained quiet. –You have been using your powers irresponsibly. I never gave you permission to be a hero.

–Come on, dad, You let this fool Robin be one! Well, at least you let him try. –Mumbled that last part.

Long story short; we had a discussion, and he forbade me to be a hero. Annoyed, I decided to run away from the city, I took care of transferring to a new school and renting a house, dad has enough for that and more, so I took some money. Well, maybe quite a bit of money, but It's not like that's going to affect him.
