The following day, I awoke to see Edwin already up, and watching another movie.Every Friday night, a channel that we have plays a movie marathon, so we stayed up all night watching them. I hardly get to spend time with my brother, so when I can, I like to spend as much time as I can with him.
"Hey, bud." I said, sitting up in my bed. He turned around, from the mattress that we set out for him to sleep on, and looked at me.
"Hey, Veda." he said, got up them gave me a hug. He climbed onto my bed, and I scooted over for him to have room.
Surprisingly, unlike other siblings, we get alone really well.
"What are we watching?" I asked him.
"Short Circuit." he replied. Short Circuit was one of his favorite movies.
We watched it for a few minutes, until my Mom opened my door and asked me to water our little, dying, plant on the porch of our apartment.
Sighing, I slipped on some shoes and I walked outside, grabbed the water bucket, then walked back inside to fill the bucket thing up.
I walked outside and started dumping the water on the small plant. Maybe that's why it's dying, because I'm drowning it. Oh well.
I looked out to the street and saw the boy from the baseball game, crossing the street, to his apartment. I walked back inside, and sat back on my bed with Edwin.
I was thinking about how Boring this movie was, I don't like this movie honestly. I wanted to hang out with Corey. Maybe I should invite him over, but he did say that he was going to a friends house last night so maybe when he got back, he was tired and didn't want to hang out.
Screw it.
"Edwin, do you wanna hang out with someone?" I asked. He didn't reply, he was too focused into the movie. I'll take that as a yes.
I walked out of my room and walked to my Mom.
"Do you mind if someone comes over?" I ask.
"I don't mind, but only for a little bit. I have to go to work soon." she said.
I thanked her, then went to my room and threw on a pair of jeans and put my hair in a side braid.
I walked out of my apartment and down the stairs to the apartment below me. He said he lived below me, so I'm assuming this is it.
138 it read on the from of the door.
I hesitantly knocked and waited for and answer.
I heard the jiggling of a lock, and then the door swung open to reveal Corey.
"Hey." he said, surprised.
"Hey." I smiled. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out."
He returned the smile and nodded. "I'll be back in a while!" he yelled inside to, who I'm assuming is his parents inside the apartment, then closed the door walking outside to where I was.
"I hope you don't mind hanging out in my apartment." I said.
"I don't mind at all." he said, then we started walking up the steps.
I opened the door to apartment, and he closed it behind him.
"Corey, this is my Mom." I showed him to my Mom who was in the living room.
"Hello, Ms. Maddox." he said to her.
"Hi, please call me Betty." she said. He nodded in understand meant.
"Veda, where'd you go?" Edwin asked, coming out of my room.
"I asked if you wanted to have company over, but you didn't reply so I took it was a yes." I told him.
"Well, you missed the movie." he pouted, even though I was only gone for five minutes at most.
"I'm sorry." I said. "How about we see what's on next." I said. He ran to my room to see what was on. I looked to Corey.
"Want to watch a movie?" I asked, and he agreed.
I showed him to my room and he sat in my bean bag chair by Edwin's mattress while I got on the bed with Edwin.
"So, what's on?" I asked Edwin.
"Pee-Wee's Big Adventure." he told me.
"This guy is crazy." Corey laughed gesturing to the T.V. where Pee-Wee was on.

During the middle of the movie, I moved down to the mattress by Corey and we started whispering, not wanting Edwin to get upset with us talking, about random thing.
"So I've been in this town but a few years, and I still don't know any good hang out spots. You got any?" I whispered to Corey.
"Yeah actually." he said. "There's a cool nickel-cade down the street. We should go there sometime." he smiled.
"Nickel-cade?" I questioned.
"Have you never heard of a nickel-cade?" he was surprised.
"Never." I replied. His jaw, over exaggeratedly, widened.
"Wow." he said. "The nickel-cade is the best, it's like an arcade, but it only costs a nickel!" he whispered yelled.
"I'm definitely taking you there sometime." he added.
