Being the hottest girl in the Outer Banks was honestly, pretty nice. Guys fell at your feet, and you could have them do whatever you wanted in exchange for a sliver of attention from you, a practical goddess walking on Earth.
However, this little, erm, talent, was not something your boyfriend appreciated.
JJ knew you only loved him. It was obvious. After you two got together, you stopped having boys do things for you. JJ knew that, although there were many times when guys would try to do things for you anyways, in hopes that their small gesture would get you to break up with your loving, perfect boyfriend. It never worked, and you always dismissed them, but it was still enough to make JJ nervous.
You two were at a house party at one of your classmate's, and JJ had made sure that he was within arms reach of you all night. It wasn't that he didn't trust you, it was the other guys he didn't trust. He knew they'd do anything to get in your good graces, so it he would much rather be by your side, scaring off any other guys who dared to try and have their chance with you.
"...okay, J?"
JJ's train of thought was broken by your angelic voice. "Sorry babe, what was that?"
"I was just gonna run to the bathroom, I wanted to tell you so all hell didn't break loose when you realized I wasn't next to you any more."
"Oh, yeah, of course, you don't have to tell me that."
You gave him a look, tilting your head to the side.
"What?" he said. "Just because you don't have to doesn't mean I don't appreciate it."
You smiled, walking off to the nearest bathroom.
JJ got you two drinks while you were in the bathroom, waiting on a couch that was across the room. He had checked his phone, looking at the time and admiring the cute photo of you two that was set as his lock screen.
He brought his head back up to look over at the door to the bathroom, and saw that it was open. He looked around, scanning the room for you, and then saw you with him.
Said 'him' being some guy from your art class that would do absolutely anything to be with you.
You had walked out of the bathroom, brushing your hair out of your face and scanning the room next to the bathroom for JJ. You were stopped dead in your tracks when a guy from your painting class stood in front of you.
"Hi, (Y/N)."
"Hi!" you replied cheerily, trying to sound more peppy to avoid saying his name since you couldn't remember it.
"Funny seeing you here, what's up?"
"I was just going back to find my boyfriend," you put a little emphasis on the word boyfriend, hoping he would pick up on it and end the conversation. You didn't want to seem rude, so you usually would humor these poor saps until you could find a way to slip in the fact that you had a boyfriend that you had no interest in cheating on.
Unfortunately, it seems that he, like most boys, don't pick up on subtle hints like that.
"I don't see him," he said back.
You mentally rolled your eyes. You had just said you were going to go find your boyfriend, of course this guy wouldn't be able to see him. "Yeah, well, I think he got me a water while I was in the bathroom, so he must be over by the kitchen."
