Chapter 6
Alice
A couple of days have passed since the night Circe got told everything, since then we moved her into our house in my room, her parents didn't really care, as long as she still goes to school they don't care where they live.
We also decided it would be best for them to skip school for a bit so she can get used to acting like a human and try to figure out what she can do.
We managed to get our hands on a spell book with magic specifically used by her clan. Energy and compulsion, kind of weird things. They've been practicing, but haven't had a lot of luck, but she is getting better.
Right now Carlisle, Circe, and I are in the forest, practicing. She can make the purple orbs of energy, swirling around in her hand, but when she releases them they just spurt around in the air instead of a direct shot. We've been here for four hours, and are going to head out soon.
I know that she has begun to get frustrated, but just as it looks like she is going to give up, something happens.
From the beginning, it is noticeable that this time will be different, for better or worse.
The orb is so much more concentrated, and the energy is whirling a lot faster than normal, like a raging storm.
Instead of flailing it, like she had done previously, as she began to let the energy out she held her stance, unclenching her hand slowly. Grinning, she let out a semi concentrated beam, heading directly towards a tree.
As it hit, chunks of wood began to fly everywhere, and the pure rush of joy seemed to excite her so much, she let go of the steady beam, once again sending energy flying everywhere.
Groaning, she walked over to me, sighing, "Ughh, I almost had it."
Chuckling, I respond, "You did have it, you just have to keep it."
"That was very good Circe," Carlisle mused, just as proud as I am of her. She rolls her eyes, not feeling the same emotion. I roll mine right back, grabbing her hand while speeding back to the house.
We got there in a record time, no thanks to Circe's excessive stumbling. We walk up the stairs together, heading to my room, or our room for the time being.
She throws herself on the bed, which seems to have become a habit. I sigh, sitting down next to her. I rub her back, attempting to comfort her as she lies there.
"Hey, are you okay?" I ask, soothing over my voice as much as possible.
She groans, and shakes her head, rubbing her face against my bed.
I hesitate, not wanting to speak wrong. "Do you want to talk about it?" I inquire, the softness previously in my voice holding throughout my question.
She sits up, looking towards me with puffy eyes. I sigh inwardly, trying not to show any negative emotion in a way Circe could pick up on, but it is really hard when she looks so down.
I grab her hand, squeezing it to try and relieve some tension. A hint of a smile peaks up, quickly covered up by a sorrowful frown.
She hesitates, finally muttering, "I just don't know what to do. Since I was little, I just wanted a normal life, with normal parents who actually care for me, but now that's impossible. I can't eat, sleep, I have to think about breathing, I can't even blink!" she yells getting louder, until rapidly quieting down to just a whisper, "I haven't talked to my friends in a week, and they keep texting me, but I don't want to hurt them by accident, so I've just ignored everything. I don't know if I'm even going to be able to see them ever again. And while I'm being a baby about everything, Zelda says that Mike is picking on Waylon so much that they are getting worried about him."
I suck it all in, trying to process everything at once while they try to calm down, not working very well as tears begin to stroll down her face. I pull my free hand up, wiping the stray tears away while she looks into my eyes.
Their eyes are so different from the forest green ones I remember, but they still hold the same raw emotion that has been huddled up inside for years.
I sit with them for just a moment, letting her begin to calm down, before beginning to comfort, "Hey, you are not dangerous, and just because you are a little different now, doesn't mean you can;t live life," she looks at me, eyes turning down into a soft glare, "I know it's hard, trust me I've been there, but just because you m=not be living a 'normal life', doesn't mean you can't live a life. And you would never hurt your friends, you care for them so much, and they care for you. I know it can be really hard having mortal friends, but there are ways to make it work. "
Her glare slowly hides away, being replaced by a more raw and emotional face full of guilt. I wasn't lying when I said I know what she's going through, and I made a lot of mistakes. I will not let her make the same mistakes I did.
"Hey, how about we go talk to them, try to reconnect. After that we can talk to Carlisle about telling them," her face lights up in surprise, and while it may not be possible, if she trusts her friends, so do I.
