~A new beginning~ pixie and Brutus

The birds singing in the trees woke you up, the sun kissed your deep blue eyes, and you stand up and stretch your body on the way to the entrance of the cave you call home.

Walking to a river, you scan the area for any predators that can hurt you and you start to drink when you see none. It was pretty early in the morning for most prey to leave their dens and scout for food.

You stand straight and walk back to the path of Brutus' house, making sure you eat and mask your scent before going.

Once you were certain that this house is Brutus's, you jump up the gate and walk slowly to make sure that you don't scare him, after all, you don't want to be killed by a German Shepherd. You walk into the middle of the yard and see that Brutus is not here nor the cat named pixie.

You look at their door and see that it has a doggy door installed, you walk closer to the door, and you poke your head in to see Brutus eating. You whimper to cache his attention and it does just that, his head snaps in your direction and hesitates for a moment, and motions you to come in, you do silently and walk towards him.

"Why are you here? Is something wrong?"Brutus asks his voice full of concern and you tilt your head to the right with confusion. "No nothing wrong Brutus, I said yesterday that I will come back,or do you not want me back?" You say, the end of the sentence filled with concern and hurt.

He shakes his head and says "no just didn't expect to see you at this time but I'm glad you did" you smile and shake your head "well don't you know how to make a girl special" you tease him and he chuckles, deep but sweet at the same time, something you will never get tired of hearing.

"Joy!! Your back!!"

You turn back to see pixie running toward you and before you know it, you have a cat hugging your neck. Brutus chuckles at the scene in front of him, one of the strongest members of his team is flustered and confused by the cat in her neck.

"She really likes hugs, doesn't she?"

You say to Brutus and he nods, a smile on his face.

"Can you do me a favor pup, and let go of my neck that you're hugging?" You say to the kitten in your neck and she giggles and says "I will never not be hugging your neck!" You look at Brutus to help but he just shakes his head in amusement and you roll your eyes and sight.

"Please?" You say to Brutus and smirks and sights "ok pixie let go of the wolf" he says to the kitten, grabbing the back of her neck carefully to not hurt her. When she did let go, she was smiling at you and you can't resist the smile forming on your face.

Brutus p.o.v

Brutus was in the living room thinking about the way aster smiled at him, the way she was kind enough to ask the kitten instead of demanding, he knew that she went through enough torture to not be nice, but she had a kind heart after everything that she went through.

"Hey, Brutus!"

Pixie cut his train of thought and when he looked at her she was smiling at him and he return the smile.

"Yes, pixie?" He asks her and the kitten climes the couch and sits in front of him before he can question her she cuts "so what were you doing?" She says kindly and he responds by "nothing just thinking' why?" He says bluntly, before looking back at the cat and seeing the smile growing wider.

" Whatcha smiling for?'' He says confused, and the cat stands up and jumps on the coffee table.

"Oh, nothing it that you like aster right! right?!" She says enthusiastly at him and chuckles nervously at the question.

"Well y- yeah as a friend...why?" He says regretting stuttering and nerviness in his voice.

"No Brutus I mean like like her," she says while wiggling he eyebrows at him. He sighs and shakes his head 'no I don't like her as that...do I?' he thinks and rolls his eyes at the thought.

"No pixie I don't like like her ok?" He says bluntly and lays his head down to take a nap.

~afternoon~

Your p.o.v

You were next to Brutus in a tree, Lola, and Hugo playing in the sun both masters of Brutus and Lolas they were making a barbecue since it was the last day of summer.

"Oh hey Randal, here for the gathering?" You open your eyes to see pixie with a raccoon, and you stand up to get rid of the raccoon but before you can make your way to her something tugs your tail lightly and you look back at Brutus' sleepy eyes before you can question him he cuts you off.

"She's fine the raccoon doesn't have rabies so you can relax..." He said yawning mid-sentence and you reluctantly lay down keeping an eye on pixie if there's any problem.

You were halfway to going back to sleep but a familiar scent made you alert to your surroundings and you look up at wrinkles and barked to get his attention, it seems to work for him and Brutus because they were both looking at you questionably.

"Am I the only one to smell that?" You say to them and Brutus sniffs the air and looks back at you. "You mean that weird smell of Pinewood or the barbecue?" He says confused as to why your whole body is tense.

"Yeah, the Pinewood one... I recommend for all of you to go back to your house..." You say, still looking at the forest before you get a glimpse of a bobcat.

"NOW!"

you say to them seeing the bobcat launch at you, you quickly bite its arm and it screams, by now both masters notice the situation and took all of their pets into the house, the cat gets out of your grip and launches for Brutus masters and before it can reach him you run at him as fast as you can and turn back to get him in the neck.

It struggles under you and hits you in your mug (the nose) and slashes your front paw before letting out a whimper,  after making sure that it's dead you collapse on the grass and pass out of blood loss.
