Chapter 1

Shadows and darkness surrounded him, always there. Pressing down on him while he stood in the darkness, waiting. The more he fought the less strength he had left to escape the darkness. So he waited for a perfect moment to strike. But another problem acquired; the longer he waited the less strength he had. So the end was near, but not without a fight! He struggled once more to escape it. He fought with every fibre of his being, the exit was so close that he could taste it. The sweet taste of freedom. A hole opened up in the pressure and he seized the opportunity to fly free.

Daniel woke with a start. He was in a strange room, which wasn

’t his room in the underground laboratory where he was held for ten years of his live. This room had a more comforting feeling to it, it would feel like he should be here if it wasn’t for the straps that held down his arms, legs and wings. He was held in a star position with his wings wide out in a comfortable position.

Those black wings that were placed onto him forcibly. They were tar black and scaly. They proved to be very useful in combat. They were bullet proof and couldn’t be cut, but the bone inside them could easily be crushed. They also had the power to break bones and go through whole bodies-they might have only have been pigs but they were defiantly thicker than human skin. Plus they could lift ten times his own weight into the air for short periods of time. He rather liked this change that they made to him. Among the other more obvious one-hair colour-he looked pretty much how he always has.

But he and the scientists which did this to him know that he isn’t normal anymore and will never be again.

Daniel started to look around the room. It had a wooden door at one end and a window at the other end of the room. From both he could see perfectly from where he was laying. Light poured in from the window and faint noises came from beyond the door. The room was empty except for the bed, it seemed.

The door opened suddenly and he snapped his attention to a little kid who was stepping in quietly. Then turned around as soon as he saw Daniel, to quick for him to get a good look at the kid. Where is he going? He thought as he was thinking of a way to get out of these straps. Hunger raged its way through his body and he suddenly felt to tired to try to escape these straps. For now anyways.

The door squeaked open quietly and a older boy stood there with a hand gun in one hand while the other seemed to be keeping someone back. Daniel smiled at the boy kindly who returned it with a crooked smile.

“Can you speak?” The boy asked. His blue eyes watching Daniel curiously. His red hair stood on end like he was just woken up.

“Yes I can speak,” Daniel said trying to sound kind. “But where am I?”

“Your in my home,” the boy stepped in further and the kid was right behind him. “Who and what are you?”

“I’m a human just like you,” the boy raised an eyebrow. “Now if you want to learn more than let me go, this is very uncomfortable for me.”

“Explain those wings then I’ll let you go,” the other boy said, “its not like you have a very big choice.”

“Fine, this wings were put on me by force,” Daniel tried to shrug but it didn’t work out perfectly. “I won’t say that I hate them, since I don’t. If anything I would say that I love them, they’re very useful. Now let me go.” The boy hesitated briefly but started to undo the straps around Daniel’s ankles then his arms and finally his wings which had two straps on each. Daniel got up gingerly and stretched.

“Now tell me; what is your name?” Daniel sighed deeply.

“Will I get feed?” The boy nodded. “I’m Daniel, what are your names?”
