Chapter 4

The ride was short and silent. The base wasn’t giant but it also wasn’t small. Daniel just wished it was over. He loved flying, but this felt terrible! He liked the fresh air pushing against his face and the feel of the air passing over his wings and body. But soon enough he would be out of this contraption. As the base came into better view he noticed all the tents set up in the base and a second wall going up around another group of tents. A big space was set aside for helicopters and such to land and take off. A group of men were standing there with guns up on their shoulders’.

The chopper landed with a jerk. The two guards stood up and opened the door. Aaron and the kid stepped out behind Rod. The two guards followed leaving Daniel to exit behind everyone. The first step he took out of the chopper some guards grabbed his arms and apprehended him quickly. He tried to struggle out but the rest of the guards already had their guns up and pointed at him.

They started to push him towards the base. A few of the guards followed them, two went ahead of him while four stayed behind. They were all strangers to him, obviously they had orders to take him somewhere. But where? They entered the compound. It was nothing special at all, all grey and cement. Fluorescent lights lit the way, sets of doors littered the walls on either side of him. People in uniforms rushed by him taking quick glances at him.

They finally got to a set of double doors, inside the room was a buzz with people talking and running back and forth. A man stood out from the rest of them shouting orders to everyone. His bleach white hair was cut short. He turned around and looked down from his heightened command chair. His grey eyes seemed like they were calculating everything around him.

“Sir! We brought him,” One of the guards said saluting to the man.

“Good, at ease gentlemen, and bring him into my office,” the man stood up and walked over to a door and opened it. Daniel was amazed about just how tall he was. The guards brought him in and shoved him into a chair. Daniel groaned a bit and adjusted so that his wings were in a more comfortable position. “He is only a boy, he wont need to be chained up like an animal.”

“But didn’t you get the tidbit about me having werewolf blood?” The man looked at him causally.

“Yes, but you are still a boy,” he waved a hand and the men took the handcuffs off of him. “Now leave us in private.” The men saluted and left. “Now then, I heard that you decapitated a werewolf, how exactly did you?”

“With what makes me one of a kind, even with a twin brother who is almost the same as me,” Daniel smiled flexing his wings.

“Was your twin brother the one who came with you?”

“No, I don’t know where he is right now,” Daniel shrugged. “But he also has wings of a feathery nature, unlike mine. But before I tell you anything else, why did you bring me here?”

“To talk,” the man grabbed a glass and poured some liquid into it.

“Why with me though? As you said, I am only a boy,” the man took a sip of the orange liquid.

“Cause of what you are, but how about we start with names? I’m General, Edgar Herman.”

“I’m Daniel,” he flexed his wings and examined the dully furnished room. Plaques littered the walls as well as pictures and such.

“No last name?” Daniel shook his head. “Amnesia?”

“I just don’t remember what my last name is, I was….” Daniel stopped looking at him. “I don’t need to explain anything to you.” He straightened up.
