Anne spun around when she heard a loud groan from the darkness. Was Gilbert okay?

She grabbed the lantern, and fumbled for a match in her coat pocket. Finding nothing, she dropped it, and rushed back into the cave.

Reaching the large pillar, she hurried around it into the entry of the larger room, and her eyes widened.

"Gilbert!" she screamed.

Before she could run to the fallen boy, large hands grabbed her, covering her mouth. She struggled and kicked, but couldn't escape the strong grip. Another muffled scream emerged as another man appeared, picking up Gilbert by the coat and dragging him out.

Suddenly, Anne's view started to get fuzzy, and the dim lighting got further away until it faded entirely into darkness.

Anne couldn't see anything when she opened her eyes. She tried to sit up, but couldn't. Was she tied? She shifted her arm. It felt like it was pinned under something heavy.

"Anne?"

Her eyes widened as the weight lifted from her arm, "Gilbert! What happened? Where are we? Why is it so dark?" She began to panic as she felt their surroundings.

"Listen to me, Anne, " Gilbert whispered carefully, "We've been kidnapped."
