You gave up on me.
The old damp house, the rusty lane
The little sparrow that hopped upon the window pane
Dried flowers squeaky chair
An old notebook, a pen and your disheveled hair
Quietened laughs, stolen glances
The sound of pen scratching the paper, your subtle advances
Winter came the summer flew
Spring it was and I just knew
I tapped my foot on the rhythm of that ticking clock
staring at the wooden door just in case you'd walk
You didn't.
Maybe you didn't give up on me.
You just never really tried.
