Holden's POV

"How was your nap?" I bent down to Kieran's level to ask him. "Did you dream anything?"

Kieran smiled at me and nodded his head. "Yes, I dream that Teddy became a giant talking car."

"Oh really? What color was the car?" I asked fascinated about his dream.

"Blue!" Kieran shouted in excitement.

"You like the color blue?"I questioned.

Kieran nodded.

I looked at the boy... He was practically my twin and yet I didn't know anything about him except for his interest in cars and his interest in the color blue. I wanted to know more, I wanted to know everything that I'd missed during these three years.

"Blue is a great color... What else do you like, kiddo?"

Kieran placed his index finger on his lip and thought about the question.

"Um.... I like fwench fries." He said.

I couldn't help but laugh at his pronunciation of the word. "Oh yeah? I like fwench fries too... ketchup or plain?"

"Ketchup!" He said excitedly.

"Good choice." I replied. I looked at the boy and smiled, I just realized that almost the entire conversation I'd been smiling when talking to him. He was a great kid. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a picture of myself at his age.

"Do you recognize this handsome little guy?"

Kieran's eyes lit up. "Hey! That's me!"

I shook my head. "Nope. That's me."

"Mommy says that lying is bad..."

I laughed again. "That's true, but I'm not lying." I held up my right hand. "I promise."

Kieran gave me a skeptical look and then gazed down at the photo. "Why do you look like me?"

"You actually look like me. I guess I have strong genes."

Kieran looked at my pants. "But those aren't jeans, those are shorts."

I rocked with laughter. Kieran looked a little confused at first but then he started laughing too. This kid... talking to him felt so natural and more. He felt like something that I didn't know that I was missing.

"Why are you crying?" Kieran questioned. I touched my face and realized that a tear was running down my right cheek. I wiped it away.

"The laughing... sometimes when you laugh a lot it can make you cry." I lied.

Kieran looked like he was going to ask a follow-up question so I quickly changed the subject.

"So do you have any friends?"

He nodded. "Yes, Chrissy is my friend. Ms. Johnson is my friend and Mr. Whiskers."

I raised my brows at him, "Who is Mr. Whiskers?"

He lifted his pointer finger. "Wait here!"

Kieran ran past his mother and into the bedroom. Katiana's eyes didn't follow him, instead, she stared at me with unshed tears.

Cry!

Your tears will not make me sympathetic to you. You deserve this!

"Holden... please—"

"Holden... please".' I mimicked my voice softly and cruelly, my face mocking and my eyes narrowed. "You used to say that three years ago. 'Holden, oh, Holden, please... please' Remember? When you were in my arms when I was kissing you—holding you." I rolled my eyes. "Too bad. You were a better actor back then."
