POV: AMANDA "ASIA" ALEXANDER

By the time I was done, all I wanted was to collapse and fall asleep on my stomach because my body was heavy with exhaustion. Which was exactly what I did! No thoughts, no worries. Just sleep.  While I was lost in the comfort, the sound of my phone ringing barely broke through.

"Hello?" I mumbled groggily, bringing the phone to my ear, while my eyes still stayed shut from the remnants of sleep. I had no idea who it was, but my mind couldn't focus enough to care at that moment.

"Hey girl, it's Anisha!" Her voice came through, lively and upbeat. "I heard you weren't feeling too well, but a couple drinks should help with that! I'm coming to pick you up...just send me your location!"

I blinked, the haze of sleep clearing for a moment. My stomach had finally stopped hurting, and the idea of free food, and even better, drinks, sounded too good to resist. The thought of going out though was so tempting, despite what had happened earlier. But who was I to turn down an offer like that? Besides, I could just be more mindful of what I consumed this time.

"Alright, give me twenty minutes to get ready," I said. My was voice steadier now, and quickly I shared my location with her until the end of the day.

I pushed myself out of bed, although my body was still heavy with the remnants of my nap. However, I knew I had to get moving. I stumbled into the shower and the water washed away the last bits of fatigue. The minutes passed quickly as I brushed my teeth and started scanning my closet for something to wear.

I sighed to myself, realizing I was in serious need of a shopping spree. The end of the month couldn't come soon enough because these clothes were starting to feel limiting. My fingers brushed over the fabric of a tan corset top, and a thought popped into my mind. I paired it with a pair of low-waisted jeans, and slipped on my tan heels.

I quickly applied a natural face beat. It was nothing too heavy, just a soft glow and styled my wig bone-straight with a middle part. A spritz of Yara finished off the scent of the evening. I couldn't help but smile at my reflection for a moment. I felt ready, ready to get out, ready to forget the chaos of the day, and to have a bit of fun.

I waited as I checked my phone every few minutes. When I saw the notification that Anisha was outside, I grabbed my nude shoulder bag and headed out. A part of me was still in a daze, but this felt like the perfect distraction. An escape from the stress and the pain of the day.

I slid into the passenger seat of a white Audi A5, and I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. This bitch had money. An Audi? In Vincy? The gas alone would probably bankrupt me, let alone the insurance and servicing. Though here she was, effortlessly cruising in style.

"This is a nice ass car," I said, chuckling. "I wouldn't be able to maintain it though."

She glanced at me as she drove off, and her eyes sparkled with a playful gleam. I swore anything she wore just looked damn good. If I was into women, I probably would've fell in love with her.

Her long hair was straightened to perfection, falling in sleek, bone-straight strands with a clean middle part. We both clearly got the memo for light makeup and middle parts that night. She was glowing. Her sage green dress hugged her curves just right, complementing her skin tone in a way I couldn't help but admire. I couldn't see her shoes just yet, but I was sure they were just as flawless.

"Thank you, babe," she said, her voice smooth and carefree. "It's actually my husband's car. He handles all the maintenance. I just drive."

I blinked, caught off guard by the mention of her husband. How did I miss the ring? My mind raced, mentally slapping myself for not noticing sooner. Lucky her, having a man who takes care of everything. I couldn't help, but I wonder when's it going to be my turn.
