kurapika vision🙀🙀🙀*magic noises*⁺✧
Every year was the same. I wake up, get ready, walk around all day with this huge burden on my back, admire her, then repeat. My birthday was nothing special, since the death of my brethren I've decided that there's no real point to celebrate my birthday. There would be no one there with me anyway.
Tightening the strap of my bag on my shoulder, I make my way to the train station for another grueling day at school. On the way there, I felt a pair of semi-strong arms wrap around my neck.
"Good morning, Kurapika!" The culprit was y/n.
"Good morning. What's got you so hyper?"
"Don't you know what today is?!" She bounced up and down, she looked like she was holding something.
"No."
"What?!" We both stared at each other, a clanging noise in the box she was holding, breaking the silence.
"It's your birthday." A soft 'Ah.' came out of my mouth.
"Right."
"Anyways, happy birthday! I got you something!" She hands me a small box that was no bigger than my hand.
I open it, revealing a chain bracelet.
"See, look! We have matching bracelets now!" She pointed to the bracelet that was on her wrist.
Without knowing, a soft smile formed on my face.
"Thank you, Y/n." In return, she gives me a small smile.
I take out the bracelet and place the box away for safe keeping, clasping the chain bracelet on my right wrist.
"How come you aren't staying home for your Roth day? Isn't that a normal thing for people to do? Take the day off?"
"There wouldn't be a point. I wouldn't do anything to begin with."
"What do you mean?" She sounds sadder than usual.
"I don't celebrate my birthday. I don't have anyone to celebrate with."
"But you have me! Killua, Leorio, and Gon too! We are kinda your...second family, yeah."
"Thank you, but I see no point. Why should I celebrate the birth of myself when I should be mourning the death of those I failed to protect?"
She looks down and started kicking at a random rock while we waiting for the train to appear. We never said anything, when the train appeared she looked relieved. I don't think she wanted to be around me after what I said. I probably shouldn't have said that.
Even when we got off the train, she still stuck by my side, not saying a word. The only thing we said was a simple "bye".
Had I made her sad?
That single thought drove me crazy for the rest of the day. I ignored her feelings. I deserve a punishment.

1st Person POV - y/n
After doing a lot of thinking, I decided to ask the three people he was the closest to.
"So, I know he doesn't like to celebrate his birthday and I don't want to go against his wishes, but I really feel like I should at least get him something. He's so hard on himself."
The tall man pushes his glasses up, slinging his bag over his shoulder. "I agree. He's a tough nut to crack."
"I really think we should just leave him alone." Killua added.
"I agree with y/n. He's gone through a lot and the least we could do is make him feel just a little better."
Sighing, Killua joined the three of us in the hall.
"I think I might know what he would like. He's a quiet guy and doesn't like being around people, right? And doesn't he really like that cafe down the street from here? Let's rent it out for about an hour or two with just the five of us."
I nod at the taller/shorter mans words. "You're right Leorio, it's not technically celebrating his birthday. It's more of a hangout."
"I hope yall got renting money." Killua shoves his hands in his pockets and walks off.
"Hey, little guy! I'm loaded, you just don't know it!"

The four of us sat impatiently in the cafe booth, waiting for our blonde friend to arrive. We had texted him awhile ago. Surprisingly, Leorio did have some money and the lady working there, Melody, was nice enough to cut the renting money half-price because she heard our reasoning. In case, she told us there was an extra cake in the back.
The four of us talked away until we heard the bells on the door jingle, indicating someone had entered the cafe. Gon looked over and waved his arms around, telling Kurapika to come sit with us.
"Where is everyone? What did you guys do this time?" He groaned, worried he might have to fix another mess we created.
"No no, we simply rented the place out for an hour or two. We wanted to hang out with you in peace since we know you've had a heavy load recently, and there isn't a better place other than your favorite cafe." I smiled.
Kurapika's cheeks had a small hint of pink. "Wow, you guys rented the entire cafe for me? Why?"
"Stop with the whys! Why this, why that? Why me?! You're our friend!" Leorio shouted.
I was relieved I didn't have to tell him or Gon to use inside voices because we were all alone in here, except for some of the workers in the back, including Melody. They were in the back so they most likely couldn't hear our conversation.
"We really care for you, Kurapika. I want you to know that, so we are going to show it more. Like now, we really care about you so we decided to give some recognition to your birthday without completely going against your wishes." I start to ramble on and on about how he should really take his feelings into consideration.
"None of what happened was your fault, so stop carrying this burden." Killua stated, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Yeah! It's no ones fault."
Kurapika took a minute to himself and finally genuinely smiled at us. The other smiles were genuine, of course. But this one, he felt like he could cry. He hasn't felt this good in years.
"Thank you guys, really. I suppose I should start taking more care of myself but I need to focus on more important problems at hand. But thank you, no ones ever done something like this for me before."
We all sit in a comfortable silence for the moment. Sharing 'happy birthday's' and hugs. We talked and ate whatever sweet things they had there and called it a day. The five of us made our way to the neighborhood together until it was just Kurapika and I. Gon and Killua wanted to go to the arcade and Leorio went straight home, tired of whatever BS happened at school today.
"Was this your idea?" Kurapika raised an eyebrow at me.
"Some of it was, it was all five of us." I smile up/down at the blonde.
"They really care about you." He smiled, sweetly, and walked closer to me.
The sunset serving as a beautiful backdrop for today. I hope he knows that none of it was his fault, he just has a lot on his plate. Happy birthday Kurapika.
