TRIGGER WARNING: explicit language, mom, blossoming friendship

Proceed at your own risk.

Makayla

I let my mom drag me home, not wanting anyone to see us argue. It's not like I was afraid of the public, but I didn't want Nahoya and his friends to see me and my mom like this. They don't deserve to see how horrible I actually am.

"You're insane!" I shout at my mom once we're home.

"No, you're insane! You don't need medicine to act like a normal person, you're just an attention seeking whore. How have I not realized that yet?!"

Is this woman for real? An attention seeking whore? Me?

"Are you hearing yourself right now?! I'm your daughter!"

"And that's exactly why I'll do anything to make sure you don't continue down the path you headed."

What does she mean by that?

"You're not leaving this house without me ever again. I'll drop you off and pick you up from school. End of discussion."

"But mom, please–"

"End of discussion!"

Nahoya

After Makayla left, I didn't know what to say. I went back inside to my friends and sat back down at the table.

They all look at me, expecting answers, but I just shrug.

"She told me her mom's strict. I guess that's what she meant."

"Man, that sucks. And our conversation was just getting good!" Mikey whined and Draken slapped the back of his head.

I look out the window, not paying attention to my friends. I don't have much of an appetite anymore.

"You okay?" Mitsuya asks me, and I snap out of my thoughts.

"What? Oh, yeah. I forgot that my mom wants me home for something. Bye!" I grab my stuff before hurrying out of the restaurant.

I'm not ready to go home yet, so I guess I'll have to wander around the city. It's a little past three o'clock, so Souya should be out of school by now.

I get my phone out and call him. The phone rings three times before he answers.

"Hello?" His voice answers from the other end of the line.

"Hey. Are you home yet?"

"No. Are you?"

"Nah. Wanna meet up? I'm at that restaurant that we like."
