The door opened with a buzz, a female guard walking across the hall and standing by the high-security chamber, looking at the girl sitting inside. Her black, almost navy hair fell past her face, nails scratching at some cuffs that weren't joined together but were fastened tightly on her wrists.
"I hope you're ready to talk, Elektris, because we want answers, and you're going to give 'em." The prisoner looked up, glaring at the custodian with angry electric blue eyes before scribbling down something on a piece of paper, putting it through the mailbox. The guard took it out, perusing the note.
I'LL ONLY TALK TO THE ENTITY.
Sighing, she retreated, meeting her co-prison head.
"She didn't say anything, did she?"
"Gave me a note saying that she'll only talk to the Entity, but there's a problem. She's been missing for ages."
"Wrong. I know a guy. His name used to be Satanus, but now he's Ares. He knows the Entity; we could get an audience with her."
"Get her then, we need her to talk. Do you know who exactly she is? The woman behind the mask?"
"Nobody does."
A week later, the door blared and opened again, but this time cold, metal based boots clinked across the stone floor, alerting the prisoner. When she looked at who was approaching, she grinned, flicking her hair out of the way and unsettling the approacher with her startling blue eyes.
"You called me?" The grey eyes of the Entity arrived at the door, looking in disdain at her.
"Take off the mask." She was confused, tilting her head.
"Beg your pardon?"
"I want to see if it's really you; so take off the mask." Giving in, she reached up and removed the domino mask, the face of Nova Prime uncovered from underneath. The girl giggled, getting up and advancing to the reinforced glass and putting her hand up, palm flat against the cool substance.
"I knew it was you. Hello, sister." Once again, Nova was confused, her eyebrows knitting together. "You don't know, do you? I'm the fourth Prime. The one that everyone forgot. Ryker."
Nova sighed. "Of course, there's a fourth one."
"I'm not a triplet, I'm just your younger sister. And this young'un knows why you're here. Har-Laas. You wanted to find him."
"Damn straight, I did."
"And you..." Ryker started giggling, "killed him! I didn't imagine you on the dark side, but damn! Anyway, you came here not because that goody-two-shoes wanted you to, but because I have the answer to solving Xaiva's... defection."
"I know you do."
"The answer is inside you, sis. The Krypt. It can take away her pain, aka the excess darkness, but you have to let it control you."
"That's dangerous. A sentient force taking control of a person and possibly wreaking havoc?"
"You've already done that. 11567 gone to 15890- sorry, 91, if you include our dad. You're as much of an instrument of destruction as the Krypt is, and you're afraid of letting it out?"
"You don't understand."
"I do. You fought with your boyfriend, got the hell out of there, killed a damn lot of people and our dad, didn't find any evidence and you're here. Why ask for my help if you're going to turn it down?"
"I thought you'd give me some useful advice. Evidently not." Turning away, Nova put her mask back on, starting to walk away.
"It'll get too much. The Krypt." She turned around, "It's breaking you."
"I have control of my own actions." Going away, she took one last look at her delusional sister pitifully.
"It's a game of chess! You have to be receptive! Something's coming!" The last ditch attempt to make her stay was futile, Ryker Prime's voice the last thing Nova heard as she left.
"Are you going to play the game, Nova?"
