I'm Going After Him

Dick had revealed his secret about killing Jericho, and the Titans were furious. They all departed, with the exception of Gar, Conner, Jason, Dick and Nova. In the training room, Nova and Dick were sparring, holding swords. Immediately, Nova circled her sword around his, issuing a scraping sound before she flicked it, making it fly out of his hands, lodging into the wall.

"What's all this for, anyway?"

"Deathstroke."

"You're going after him?! After what happened?"

"The throwing of Jason off a roof and the murder of Garth? He's seen you guys before, the only one he hasn't faced yet is the Crucible. We can pull it off." Inserting her sword back into the compartment behind her back, Nova left in a hurry, Dick hearing the sound of a car driving off a minute later.

Slade Wilson was standing in the middle of the car park, having been sent a message to meet someone or they'd turn the gun on his wife. And surely enough, the Entity walked out from behind a pillar, gripping his bound and gagged wife with a gun held to her temple.

"Make a move and it's her life, Wilson." Slade raised his hands in a surrendering position, staring at his wife with unfeeling eyes.

"Go ahead, Prime. See if you can do it."

"15891 kills, and you don't think I can make her the 15892nd?" She cackled, "You must be kidding me."

"Yeah, that's the thing. You're not Nova Prime. Welcome, Ryker." Sighing, Ryker took off the mask, raising her eyebrows.

"What gave it away?"

"The hysterical manner, freckles... you couldn't possibly be Nova Prime."

"I like to think of her as a more radical version of me." A gun flicked down it's safety pin, the finger on the trigger turning out to be Nova's. "And if you think I won't murder your wife and you right here, right now, then boy, are you mistaken."

"And so are you." A silver gleam of a sword flashed through the air, but Nova was quick to retaliate, pulling out her own and striking it against his blade. Circling it round each other, Nova flicked her wrist and sent the sword flying, lodging into a wall, but Slade took out a gun and shot Nova in the shoulder, forcing her to retreat and collapse, allowing him to escape. Ryker let Adeline go, rushing to her sister, who was lying on the ground with her hand shielding her bloody shoulder. She was muttering something incoherent until she got up painstakingly, her defences down since she had given her suit to Ryker to disguise as her.

"Dick." She panted, "I need to find him." Getting in the Tesla, Nova drove off, leaving Ryker on her own.

"Don't give a damn about them, they won't tell you anything." Jason Todd came out from the shadows, hood drawn up.

"She's my sister, Jason."

"That's rubbish." He spat. "You know she thinks you're a psycho. Spent ages in asylums here and there, enjoyed the fact that she killed your dad, that gives off wacko vibes to righteous people like her and Grayson."

"What about people like you?"

"I find it hot."

"A villain, hot?"

"You're unafraid to say what you want, take what you want. They tell you everything and you're not one of them, you're not in the Crucible, and they're everything around here. The Titans keep us in the dark because we're innocent kids, but you're not like them, are you?" They were both very close, the tension evident and challenging gazes threatening to throw each other off.

"What if you're like them?" He chuckled at the statement, lifting his hand and brushing the back of his fingers against her freckled cheek.

"What can I do to prove that I'm not?" Jason's calloused finger swept across her defined cheekbone, eyelashes fluttering as his eyes looked down to her lips. Ryker's hand immediately flew to his neck, pulling him in for a rough kiss, and he suddenly wanted more, pulling her closer by her waist.

Kissing a dangerous woman never felt so good.

In the meanwhile, Dick was being escorted to meet the prison's chief, sullen and sleepless, bags under his eyes evident. However, when he entered the office of the chief, he nearly fainted at seeing who was sat at the desk.
