We sit at the front, in the VIP chairs. Sophia sits to my right, Raven to my left. "It's gonna start soon!" Raven squeals loudly from beside me.
I roll my eyes playfully, my mood enhanced since this morning, "Really? I didn't know."
She shoves me playfully with her elbow, rolling her eyes along with me before we both chuckle softly.
"I think mom's more excited than me," She points to a blushing Sophia who scrolls through last year's pictures of Lucas modeling at this same event.
"Raven, of course I don't expect you to be as excited as Sophia. I would question you if you were excited to see your father walking down the stage trying to be sexy," I whisper.
Her attempt at a snicker transforms into a snort and before we know it, we're both laughing again.
Sophia shushes us, her composure back to normalcy.
Raven rolls her eyes, this time speaking loud enough so Sophia hears her, "As if she wasn't just swooning over her man like a lovesick teenager." Sophia turns a deep shade of red making Raven and I giggle even louder.
Our giggles are hushed when the lights dim and music begins to play.
"'Welcome to LuxFashion's fashion show!" An unidentified source's words reverberate across the room.
The audience erupts in cheers of excitement, "I am your host for this event and I'm pleased that you all are here today!" It appears that the voice is that of a robot. "To begin our fashion show, we would like to introduce our models - our greatest blessing - because if it weren't for them, this event wouldn't even be possible!" The audience screams loudly, more lively than I've ever seen an audience be. "Please, welcome our models!"
I expect to see actual models walking out onto the stage but instead it's a big flat-screen TV - that I hadn't seen until now - that turns on and in the form of a movie introduction, the models are introduced and the audience screams for their favorite model who they see appear on the screen.
I don't see Lucas yet but when my eyes connect with Raven's, we share a look that means we would be screaming when he came up on the screen. And that's exactly what we do. When Lucas' picture and name is being showcased, Raven and I scream. Loudly.
Sophia jumps from beside me but I pay her no attention, feeling my voice falter as I continue showing my support for the best father figure I've had in my life. Our screams are loud, Raven and I's. So loud that they could be recognized through the screaming crowd as ours instead of blending in with everyone else's.
I know that I am going to have a hoarse throat after this, but I don't care. Not in this moment. I scream loudly until his name fades away.
The next name that appeared on the screen was Ashton Alexander. And the silence that followed after was loud. I whoop loudly, feeling a little sorry for the person I don't know. Raven picks up my attempt and joins me in cheering. Sophia soon joins us in our commemoration. And together, we cheer loudly till the rest of the audience joins us.
