I'm up at four-thirty a.m. Excitement drills me and prevents me from falling asleep. I had been awake for at least ten minutes prior, turning and twisting in the bed, before finally deciding to just give up and read a History textbook instead. I've always struggled with History, and now that I've learned about the grading system here, I'm concerned about the grades I'll receive in that subject.
But what Headmaster Stone said stood out to me. 'All you have to do is study,' he says. And that's exactly what I'm doing.
Don't get me wrong—I always prepare for exams. Maybe I don't study hard enough, or maybe I study too close to the exam day. I'm not sure what it is but for this term, I have to give it my all since only my best will suffice. I am already behind on studies and I can only hope reading this book and taking notes helps me in this subject.
"So..." A tired voice drawls from my phone speaker.
"Aren't you going to sleep?" I ask, raising my brows at the camera. "Google tells me that it's currently eleven thirty-five p.m. over there."
"But then you'll be lonely," Raven grumbles.
"Right now, I'm studying; I don't have time to be lonely." I inform her. And it is true. When you're studying, you never really pay attention to anything but the fact that you're studying.
"What are you even studying for, anyway? Are exams coming up so soon?"
"History." I mutter the word bitterly. "I'm not exactly a scholar in this area and besides not wanting to be kicked out of this school, I actually do want good grades for myself."
She sighs in exasperation, and my gaze wanders to the phone screen, "Raven, please go to sleep." The smallest of complaints leaves her lips, but all it takes is one stern look before she begrudgingly agrees. "Enjoy your tour, Amber. I expect to hear all about it later." She tells me before she ends the call.
I sigh into my dorm's solitude before reluctantly closing my book and heading to grab a drink of water. Seeing as I don't have a roommate, I'm ultimately free to do as I wish. And that includes staying on long calls with my family without the fear of someone overhearing things they shouldn't.
Though my dorm is big, it only consists of a bed, a dresser and a small kitchen area with a mini fridge. I have yet to decorate anything and to be honest, I don't think I will. The only clue that this dorm has a resident is my suitcase that is neatly in a corner beside my bed.
The door beside my dresser leads to the bathroom. Inside the bathroom lies an elongated toilet that has a motion activated seat, a square shaped sink with a black faucet and drain hole. They both sound fancy but the shower, however, is my favorite part. The shower door is glass and leads to a LED shower that has both a shower head and a hand shower. The LED lights are manually set to be red when the water is hot and blue when the water is cold.
