Back at my house
Dinner is simple,
Just something that I bought somewhere.

I wonder what they would eat there?
Would it be simple?
When I was a child
My mother would always make
Fancy dinners
But they weren't for us.
My mother would feed five families
With her dinners,
But she didn't feed our family
Anything but rice.
Rice and beans,
Rice and chicken,
Rice soup...
Simple meals.
She didn't buy them, though,
She made them in the time
She should've spent
With her family.
If I had grown up with a father,
My mother wouldn't've had to
Feed anyone but our family
And she could've spent more time
With us.
