Takashi didn't know.
The thought started settling in as Ryo changed out his cadet uniform while looking around Takashi's place so they could head out to dinner. However, there was that inkling his older brother didn't know about his dorm accommodations. "After all, he's not gone bonkers over it, at least not yet."
Ryo imagined Takashi would indeed blow his top once he heard, which made his mind wonder when the best time to drop that particular bombshell would be. Ryo honestly wanted the best reaction from his older brother. His mind focused on how he felt Takashi deserved it—not knowing.
But then—
"You could pick up your carry-on when we get back," Takashi said, having stepped into his bedroom to change, mentioning that he could use either the bathroom or the other bedroom. The additional bedroom was, in fact, unused as if waiting for someone—the bunks indicating possibly two someones.
"Is it possible he'd actually planned on us both being here, Keith and me? It can't be possible, given how he's not told Keith that we're related." Which, of course, shifted his mind to some of the things Takashi said about how he'd been dealing with other students bullying Keith while refusing to tell Ryo precisely what was going on, letting others tell him. "Does it matter? When he's that irresponsible? He wouldn't be able to take care of Keith if Keith lived here, so my dorm accommodations are a good thing."
It bothered him, though, and the glee from watching Takashi flip out when he learned became worried that perhaps the dorm accommodations weren't a good idea, given how Takashi made it quite clear he didn't know what was going on.
"And who's fault is that," Ryo muttered to himself, deciding to change in the bathroom instead while wondering what the best way to break it to Takashi what his dorm accommodations would be now that he'd transferred to Takashi's garrison. He stepped out, his carry-on hanging down when Takashi said something about picking the bag up when they got back from dinner.
"I want to head straight to my dorm room when we get back," Ryo said. "Thanks for letting me change at your place. The red uniform stands out like a sore thumb."
"It does, doesn't it," Takashi said calmly, changing how their conversation always went. Ryo turned his head, frowning, mentally noting that while he'd brought up his dorm situation again, Takashi dropped the ball in Ryo being able to tell him—telling him was necessary, and not just because—he wanted to see the look on Takashi's face when he found out.
"I'm kind of not looking forward to the look on his face or the lecture that will likely follow, but..." Ryo glanced at the ground as Takashi grabbed his keys and headed out of his garrison housing, with Ryo following close behind. As he walked, he couldn't help but notice some of the others at the garrison staring, something he'd chalked up before to him being in the red uniform, yet—it felt like there was something more to it.
Ryo brushed the thoughts aside, still trying to think of how to break it to Takashi regarding his dorm accommodation, when he buckled himself up in his older brother's car. Takashi turned the key in the engine. "So, Galaxy Burger."
"Galaxy Burger?"
"It's a popular place with the cadets," Takashi said, not phased, pretending that the conversation they had when they arrived didn't happen, that they were somehow on good terms.
"You would know, wouldn't you."
"Huh?"
"You attended the American garrison for high school, never coming home for breaks."
"Are you going to hold that against me? Things happened."
"What were you doing?"
"Looking for dad. Then keeping an eye on Keith once I found him." Takashi said, smiling. Ryo looked out the window at the traffic, contemplating how to have a space program that was aiming to reach Pluto soon; the vehicles back on Earth weren't really anything to talk about, as most hadn't taken to the hover tech. Takashi seemed like no exception to the rule.
