3-Bitten

Kim Yoohyeon POV

I always wish I was never been born. I am just a useless girl who doesn't have an ability. When I say ability, I meant talents. I don't have any special talents.

My sister have a few talents, she can sing, cook, swim and even know how to solve the problem when something went wrong. Unlike her, I have none. All I can do is playing video game.

Games is not only my hobby, it's my life. My life savior.

But many of my dad's relatives were praising my sister while me, they just ignored and gossip to my dad about me.

I was angry at myself for not being able to be talented like my sister. I was angry that I couldn't do anything other than playing game.

This is why I always wish that this fuck up world will end. I hate this life. I wish there will be a zombie apocalypse or a comet hitting the Earth

"Yoohyeon."

Huh? Yubin?

"You are my only best friend, I don't want you to hurt yourself. Or even kill. Please don't think about that. I want you and me to grow old together, marry to a girl and have children. I want to see the wrinkles on your face when we turned old."

Yubin...I...

"RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

"ZOMBIES...THEY ARE COMING!"

I snapped back to the reality as I noticed all of the people were running for their life, running against that...that ferocious being.

"Aarrrr..."I screamed immediately and fell backward as I saw that ferocious being. What was that thing? They even devoured their own kind, a cannibalism!

"Yoohyeon! Yoohyeon! Come on, let's go."Yubin was shaking my shoulder, calling my name. I couldn't process my mind at all. I was staring at that ferocious being devoured a person, a freaking human being!

But that human after being devoured, his eyes turned white and the vein was popping out on his skin.

What is this all about...?

I used to wish that the zombies apocalypse will come anytime soon, but not now...not now...not when I already have Yubin.

I saw a ferocious being walking toward Yubin behind. I screamed and pushed Yubin away. She fell back on the ground and a zombie quickly sink it's teeth on my hand. I let out a long scream painfully.

"No Yoohyeon!" Yubin's eyes was wide as she saw me being bitten by the zombie. I let out my soft smile. "I am sorry, Yubin. You are my friend, you always be. I will not forget you, even afterlife." I said as another one bit me.

"No no no! You are coming with me. I don't care if you got bitten. Just come with me!"

"Just go, Yubin. Leave me here."

"B-but I can't just leave you, Yoo. You are my friend. Friends can't leave each other."

I can see the tears was streaming through her cheek. She was crying...she was crying because of me.

And then, I felt my cheek was wet. Am I...crying...?

I noticed another group of zombies were coming to Yubin.

"JUST GO, YUBIN! GO!!"I snapped at her. Yubin quickly ran away with her tears flying in the air, leaving me to become the food of the zombies.

Is this really the end of me? Is this how I am going to die? I see...I am going to die after all...

Is there even hope in this world? No one care if I die...

I always wanted to die since high school. All I just want is to escape from this cruel world...

But...

"Hey Yoo, what are you doing? Why are you hiding there?"

Little me was looking up to Yubin, wiping the tears staining on my cheek. "It nothing, really." I lied as I gave a fake smile at Yubin.

"Are you crying, Yoo?"

I shook my head. "Of course not. Why would I cry?"

"Your eyes said otherwise. Why? Why are you crying?"Little Yubin asked, walking toward little me. "M- my dad..."I stuttered. "He wish that I was never born. I was nothing but a useless kid. He also said that I should die when my mum gave birth to me. I am nothing but just bringing bad fortune to this world." I sobbed helplessly.

"Yoo... it's not true. You are not useless. You are more than useless."

"W-what do you mean?" I asked as I look at Yubin. My cheek was puffy due to the dry tears. "You are my only friend that's makes me happy. You always make me smile when I was feeling down. And you make me feel that I am not alone." She said, pulling me a hug.

"Yubin..."

"And I need you, Yoohyeon. I can't imagine my life without you!"

I stared at Yubin speechless. She need me? She's the only person that needed me in her life...

Yubin...that's right. She really care about me...she is the only one who will be sad if I die...

"Yoo! Thank you for coming into my life!"

I can't afford to die now. Yubin need me. She needed me.

I clenched my jaw. Forcing my body, I stood up as the zombies continue sinking it's teeth in my arm. "AAARRRR!" I forced my numb arms to push the zombies away. The zombies crashed at the building's wall. I looks front and noticed my vision was turning red and my left side of the cheek was wet. I touched my left cheek and saw a red liquid.

A red liquid streaming from my left eye.

What with this red liquid? Blood? I am bleeding from my left eye?

Not just my left eye bleeding, but my arms and legs were numbs. It was so numb that I can't even feel both of my arms and legs.

What the fuck...

I shouldn't just stand here right now. I need to find Yubin...no I need to go back home first and warn my dad about this.

What are you doing? Your dad doesn't care about you. You should just leave him there to die.

I stopped as I heard a voice ringing my head. I looks around, checking if there is anyone around me. No one... no one was there. They either died or turned into a zombie.

What was that voice I heard...?

Maybe it was just my imagination.

I started to walk, heading to my home. My vision was turning red. I couldn't see clearly. I slapped my cheek and my vision became clear. My breathe became shaky and my heart was beating loudly.

I can hear some people screaming from their lung. Probably some zombies going to attack them.

My body automatically started going toward the direction of that scream. But I tried to stop my body from going there.

What's wrong with my body? My mind was telling me to go home but my body was telling me to go to that scream and...eat them...

Eat? What the fuck?

I quickly wipe the drool off my face.

Why am I thinking about eating them? A freaking human being. I am not some cannibals.

Just snap out of it, Yoohyeon. You only have two goals. Find dad, get him out from home and then find Yubin. It is just a simple goal. I have to fulfill it.

3rd Person POV

Upon arriving at her house, Yoohyeon immediately tried to open the door with the key but the moment she touch the door, the door open suddenly.

Yoohyeon was shocked. Did her dad forgot about locking the door?

She quickly entered the house, hoping that her father will be alright. He will be alright. Her thought.

Suddenly, she stopped walking, her jaw dropping when she saw something shocking her in front.

There her father was devouring by a zombie, leaning on the white wall as he closed his eyes.

"Dad!" Without thinking, Yoohyeon kicked the zombie in its face.

To her surprise, the zombie flew far away into the kitchen. Yoohyeon was shocked at her own strength.

Yoohyeon then went toward her father, crouched toward him. "Dad, are you okay?"She asked. She then sniffed at her dad.

The scent was unbelievable. Its smell nice. She never smells like this before. Yoohyeon gulped as she stared at her dad's neck. Her stomach started to grumble as she keep staring at his neck. Her vision slowly turning red again.

She was hungry.

Hungry for human flesh. She just wants to eat him and sink her teeth into his neck.

Can she just eat him? Just for a bit?

"Yoohyeon." Just her father's voice make her snapped. She just realized what she was about to do to her father. She was going to eat him. Her own father. Her vision turned clear once again as she looks at her pale hands.

'No...what was I going to do to him? Why am I want to eat him badly. But I am hungry. I should eat him to stay alive. No no no. That's wrong. That's cannibalism. I-'

"Yoohyeon."Her father called her again. Yoohyeon slowly turned her head to him. She could see his vein popped out, going to turn into a zombie. "Were you bitten too?" He asked.

Yoohyeon couldn't response. She was only stare at him.

"I see. Judging by your looks, you did get bitten." He said. "You are different than the other humans like myself."

Yoohyeon raised her eyebrows. "I am different? I am not like other ordinary people? I am just a useless girl. What do you mean Dad? Tell me!" She snapped at her father.

Her dad weakly shook his head. "You got all wrong, Yoo. You are not useless. You are special..."He paused for a while before he speaking again. "Have you wonder why didn't you turn into a zombie fully?"

No response from the girl.

"Because you were born with your mother's blood. A blood that can withstand the zombie's virus. Your mother that had been living with us until she passed away was not your biological mother."

Yoohyeon's eyes went wide. If that woman that she loved a lot was not her birth mother, then who is her biological mother?

"Before I met Naeun, I married your birth mother. We were living together happily. I loved her so much and she gave birth to you. Just when you turned 1 month old, your mother decided to divorce me. I don't know the reason but she said that it was for our own good and left you to me.  She trusted me to take care of you. Truth to be told, there was already a zombie apocalypse all over South Korea for many years. It just that Hansan was just an island. This is why the zombies couldn't get to us until now. Your mother went to Busan because she said that she had a job to do and she doesn't want me or you to be involved."

Yoohyeon was silenced as she stared at her father. She doesn't know what to say after that. She clenched her hands.

"In Hansan, everyone were enjoying their life to the fullest, thinking that their peaceful life will be forever. They did not know that there were so many zombies outside the island. Only I and your mum know. This is why I keep a secret about your birth mother. She just wants to keep both of you safe....and now the zombies finally invaded our land." Then Yoohyeon saw a tear dropped to the floor from her father's eyes. "Dad..."She wiped his tears away with her thumb.
"I am sorry Yoohyeon for all these years. I am really sorry..."Yoohyeon heard a bone cracking from his father. He is going to turn into zombie in a minute.

The father quickly pulled Yoohyeon for a hug. "I am sorry for not playing with you a lot when you were little. This was for your own good. I am sorry."

"Dad..."

"ARCK!" Another bone cracking on her father's legs. He then pushed Yoohyeon away, making the girl to fall back.

"Dad!"

"Don't come here, Yoo-argh!!"

"No, you're coming with me!"

"I can't! I am not like you! I am going to turn soon...Yoohyeon...listen to me!"

Yoohyeon then stared at her father who was on verge of turning into a zombie soon.

"Outside Hansan, go to Busan and meet your mum there-no meet Kim Hyunjin."

"Kim Hyunjin?"

"She is your half-sister. Meet her there. You and Hyunjin are the only hope to stop the apocalypse."

"But dad-"

"JUST GO KIM YOOHYEON!"

By her dad's roared, Yoohyeon quickly left the house while her dad was inside the house as he slowly smile. "Be safe, Yoohyeon." Then another tears dropped to the floor before he began to groan, roaring like that ferocious being.

Minji bit her lip, eyeing the zombies in front of her. Even though she was cornering by the zombies, she couldn't help but to get worried of Gahyeon.

Will she be okay on her own? How is she? Is she safe?

She couldn't stop thinking about that. What if something may happen to her? What if the zombies caught her?

Minji clenched her jaw. She will be alright. That was her thought.

The zombies started to growled and began to run at her. So Minji quickly shut her eyes. But suddenly, there was a few bang sounds, making the zombies' dead brain splatter out from their head.

Minji slowly opened her eyes as she now saw all the zombies collapsed.

Then she turned to the side to see a girl with bob hair was holding the gun, pointing at her direction. Minji sighed in relieve to see who it was.

"You're arrived in time, Haseul." She said as she smile at the bob hair girl.

Haseul then smile and placed her gun down before walking over to Minji. "So the plan about evacuating the civilians from this city did not work out?"She asked as she stood in front of the older girl. Minji shook her head. "Unfortunately not, the old man was so damn stubborn. He just doesn't believe us."

Haseul nodded her head. "I see...so where is Gahyeon? Isn't she with you?" She asked, suddenly realized the disappearance of the girl. Minji suddenly froze, didn't expect the shorter girl will ask her about Gahyeon.

Minji scratched her cheek, looking away from Haseul. "I...sort of... letting her...go on her...own..."She barely speak louder.

Haseul widened her eyes. "YOU WHAT!!???"

"I am sorry okay. I didn't mean to let her walk alone-"

"Minji unnie, she has been failing her training the moment she stepped in our camp. Why would you let her go alone? She is not ready to be in the field yet, fighting against those disgusting creatures." Haseul said as she placed her hand on her waist.

"She has been improving, Seul. She now can shoot the zombie in their head. I mean she saved my life when the zombie was about to bite me." Minji tried to reason with her. "And what about Hyeju? You let her fight when she was only 11. She is a lot younger than Gahyeon."

Haseul opened her mouth to speak again but nothing came out from her mouth. She then closed her mouth.

"You're right, unnie. I let Hyeju fight because she's talented. And she is turning 14 soon, I can see potential in her...but when you said Gahyeon is improving, I believe you." Haseul patted her shoulder.

"Haseul..."Minji looks at her in awe.

"Let's go and find her. We can't let her fight alone. She probably needs our help." Haseul said. "Yeah..." Minji nods with a smile.

"But if she found dead. I won't hesitate to kill you."Haseul threatened with a glare and Minji tried to calm her down. "She won't. I promise!"

Running and running, Gahyeon was struggling to run in a long distance. She then tripped and fell, making herself wince. "Ouch..."She stood up but winced, the moment she tried to bend her knee. She looks at her knee bleeding, blood streaming down from her wounded knee.

"Rrrfhhrawr..."Gahyeon glanced behind, noticing a zombie was walking toward her. Gahyeon raised her gun as she switches off the safety lock, pointing at the zombie's head and shot it in a blow.

Gahyeon tried to stand up one more time but using her gun to support her weight as she continues walking but limping slowly due to her injury.

A few zombies heard Gahyeon's footsteps. They turned their head to the sound as they began to walk toward it, letting their soft groans and growls.

Gahyeon was walking limping. She heard the zombies' growls and curse herself. "Shit, they're coming." She tried to walk faster, but to no avail, the more she tried to walk faster, the slower her pace. The zombies were catching up to her. "Grrrr..."

"Oh no." One of the zombies almost grabbed Gahyeon, but before its can do that, a silver girl suddenly appeared out of nowhere, punched it, making it to fly away in far distance. Gahyeon's mouth agape. How can a girl make the zombie flew away just like that?

Another zombies were going to lay their hands on Gahyeon. Yoohyeon quickly giving a fast jab on those zombies and make them flew away like some light objects that were thrown.

Once Yoohyeon already cleared all the zombies that surrounding the younger girl, she began to walk toward her with a shaky breath. "Are you...okay?"Yoohyeon asked, panting.

Gahyeon nodded her head, making Yoohyeon to smile.

"It's Lee Gahyeon." Gahyeon spoke. "Huh?" Yoohyeon looks at her confusingly. "My unnie always told me that when a stranger saved me from the creatures. They must be a good person. I want to make the good person to remember that they saved me once."Gahyeon explained to the confusing girl.

"Oh, I see...I am Yoohyeon, Kim Yoohyeon..."Yoohyeon scratched her head. "Where are you from and where are your parents?" She then asked.

Gahyeon suddenly looked down, her face became frowned at the mention of her parents. Yoohyeon slowly nods at Gahyeon's expression. "I see...I am sorry for your loss."

Gahyeon then shook her head and smile. "No, it's okay. It's already a long time ago since they had passed on. I already have a new family though they are quite a lot..."

"What about you, Yoohyeon unnie? Where are your parents? Are they okay?"Gahyeon turns to ask. Yoohyeon sighed, scratching her neck. "My dad turned into a zombie, my mother died a long time ago and I just found out from my dad that my mother is not my birth mother." She answered nonchalantly.

"You don't look sad at all when you mentioned your parents. Are you okay?"

"I am fine. It just that my dad had been treating me badly over 10 years. And I don't really care if he dies or not. He deserved it." She said, remembering what her father told her before he turned.

"I am sorry for not playing with you a lot when you were little. This was for your own good. I am sorry."

"That motherfucker, he deserved it...he deserves to die." Half of it was the truth, and half was a lie. She couldn't bring herself to hate her father to the fullest.

"You got a rough life, huh?" Gahyeon spoke.

"Yeah..."Then the tear from her right eye started to fall. Only one of her eyes was in tears. She balled her hand into a fist. "... my life is complicated..."

"Unnie, you're crying." Gahyeon pointed out.

Using her thumb, she wipes her tears away. "I am fine...I just got something in my eye." She lied, trying to give a honest smile to the younger girl.

"GAHYEON-AH!!! GAHYEON BABY ARE YOU OKAY!??"Gahyeon quickly jolted up as she heard her name being called. And of course, the voice belong to Minji.

Gahyeon smile at that voice. She knew Minji will come back to her.
But suddenly when she looks at the direction of that voice, her eyes became very wide. Her eyes almost popped out from her eye's sockets.

"GAHYEONNIE MY BABY!!!"

She saw Minji was running toward her with force, shouting her name and everything which was drawing a lot of zombies behind her. So many zombies were right behind her. She lost counts of how many zombies were there.

Haseul was beside Minji, running for her life because literally more than 20 zombies were right behind them. She has urge to slap her forehead.

"Yah Minji unnie, don't raise your voice like that. You are going to attract all the zombies from this city!"Haseul whisper-yelled to her from the side.

Minji furrowed her eyebrow at Haseul's statement. "What do you mean I am attracting the zom-oh shit, they are behind us." Minji panicked as she suddenly started running faster. "Hey wait for me!"Haseul too started running faster.

"RUN GAHYEON RUN!"Minji said. Yoohyeon was confused about what happened now and who was that strange girl that was drawing a lot of zombies to her. Gahyeon suddenly grabbed Yoohyeon's wrist and pulled her away to run from the zombies.

"Uh hah...where are we going?" Yoohyeon asked while Gahyeon was tightly gripped on Yoohyeon's wrist. "To run away from them obviously."

"Them?" Yoohyeon turned around, her eyes going to pop out from eyes sockets. "Oh no AAHHHHH, they're coming, they're COMING!"Yoohyeon shouted, forcing her legs to run faster.

"Don't shout, you idiot! You are going to attract another badge of zombies."

Yoohyeon didn't listen to her, she was shouting all the way. The zombies chase them as soon they spotted Yoohyeon and the other girls.

"Now what have you done, unnie! They are chasing us!!"Gahyeon yelled at her. Then she looks behind. "Oh shit! They are coming closer! Aaaaahhhh!!!"

The sun was going to set and the girls were still running away from the zombies.

Running one round in the city, until they manage to lose all of the zombies that chasing them.
