(NOT MY DRAWING)
You trudge through the halls mulling over the thought of whether you want to go back to the dining room or not. You don't have the energy to put up with any of their insults right now and just want to be locked in a room away from everything. You pause when you hear the light padding of feet and turn around just in time for Aspen to jump on top of you licking your face. You laugh with a joyous smile as you continue to be attacked by the large white direwolf. "Down girl down!" She stops and backs off tail wagging away as her brother walks up tail wagging too but shows his excitement in a much calmer way by nuzzling your hand.
"Hey, buddies y'all hungry?"
At that, they let out a series of barks happy that they can finally be fed. You chuckle and lead the way to the dining room and they trail along gleefully. Once you reached the door you paused hands on the door handle, you close your eyes and take a deep breath, and move some of your hair that had stuck to your face due to the breakdown you had in the opera room before opening the door with a confident smile. Everyone stopped what they were doing to look at you and then the two behind you.
"Mutts are not allowed at the dinner table pet," the Lady spit out through clenched teeth eyes narrowing at Dakota and Aspen. With an eye roll, you ignored her and walked past the table and into the kitchen through the doubled wooded doors. The maids there all stop their movements and look at you with a shocked expression. You glide through the small area over to the hung meat and scan through the batch before finding a nice size deer already skinned.
You pick it up sling it onto a large enough tray and carry it out back into the dining area without a word to anyone and set the tray down a few feet away from you. The minute the tray was down on the ground the twins began tearing through the deer. You pat their heads before turning back around and sitting back in your seat. The room was quiet only your movement was heard before the Dimitrescus pull themselves out of the trance-like state they were in and resume eating.
"My 'mutts' are not bothering you are they? They haven't eaten anything since breakfast," you plop a blueberry in your mouth as you lean back in your seat arching your brow at the Lady beside you. The Lady simply ignores you while she sips her blood-infused wine staring adamantly at nothing. Your mouth quirks upward as you grab an apple and use your dagger to slice it. The silence is thick but you don't care you've come to relish the quietness. You feel content that you've done your daily task to piss the Lady off but that smug smile you had completely vanishes when you realize you left Mocha and Frappe at your cabin alone.
"Shit"
You stand up quickly chair falling backward and you rush over to Dakota jumping on his back and he stops chewing on the bone he had moments ago seemingly understanding why you're so panicked. "I'm sorry m'lady but I have to leave this lovely dinner quite early and don't worry I'm not running away. I'll be back soon!"
You signal Aspen to stay she was already hurt enough you couldn't have her getting worst. Dakota takes off and you vaguely hear the Lady screaming your name that it's not safe to be going out at night and that whatever you left you could get tomorrow.
Dakota sprints down the hallway taking sharp turns every once in a while and scaring maids. You hear buzzing on both sides of you and roll your eyes before signaling Dakota to speed up. He obeys and you're soon bolting through the hallways, the buzzing becomes distant and soon it's completely silent other than the occasional shriek of a maid. The giant staircase to the main hall comes into view and your smirk. You've seen people jump off of cliffs and over railings before so this should be easy as pie. As if he was reading your mind Dakota picks up even more speed ready for the jump. You close your eyes and time seems to slow as you feel Dakota leap off the ground and over the railing. Your blood is pumping loudly and your heart is accelerating, you haven't felt this alive since you got your arm torn off and it's almost euphoric.
