Nothing so much as a word was uttered between the pair of you. His car cruised through downtown taking the shortcut back to your estate. The bubble of bliss you had been in had simply popped and Eren drove with a slouch, his own mood lowering even further. What exactly could the two of you say to each other? You had just witnessed him beat his own so called associate mercilessly. You wondered how he would treat a person he didn't know. Shuddering at the thought, you played with the frayed ends of your denim skirt, wishing the situation was different. Wishing that despite everything, the way he smiled at you didn't make the rest of the world melt.

Finally, you turned to him when he let out a deep breath through his nose you the pair of you got stopped at a red light. Checking the dashboard, you saw it read a few minutes past nine. It was getting dark and you knew the weather tomorrow was going to be bleak due to the collection of clouds intimidatingly brewing in the North.

His soft chestnut hair was tucked behind his ear but that didn't stop one of two unruly strands from hanging in front of his eyes. The jade had seemingly lost its exotic sparkle and all that was left was a dull mint green. Part of you told you that he wasn't upset about embarrassing himself in front of you. There was something else. It was eating him up from the inside and tearing him apart. Devouring him and leaving him with a kind of emptiness. You wanted to help, you needed to know, but you had absolutely no means of finding out.

"Let's play: Five Things I Don't Know About You." You spontaneously suggested.

There had to be a way to remove these barriers between you. There just had to be. He rolled his eyes.

"Not now, y/n." Eren muttered, curtly.

Fully facing him, you refused to give up. A new found determination settled over you.

"Why? You said we don't know each other that well so here's me trying to make and effort and you're shutting me down." You retorted.

Part of you just wanted to ask him to stop the car so you could walk the rest of the way, unable to deal with his drama. But you didn't, of course. Part of Eren's enigma was the fact that everyone so desperately wanted to break it, they happened to stay long enough to get themselves hurt. The car slowed as Eren turned into your estate, his headlights were on although the visibility around was perfect. Maybe he didn't want anymore accidents this night.

"I don't even know how to play." He whispered, just loud enough for you to catch on.

He braked outside of the initial house that you had lied about and still you felt a twinge of guilt for lying. Perhaps it was time to tell the truth.
