Collecting your diploma, a strange sense of accomplishment rolled over you body. You had completed your high school career. At least your education was one thing you had straight in your life. Stepping off the podium, your eyes turned longingly towards where your ex-best friend was stood, chatting away with Levi. Her graduation cap was held between the hands that were enclosed in fishnet gloves. The royal blue for the graduation gowns had always been something she hated. Yet, she had still managed to customize them in some way.
It had felt like years ago when she had walked away from you. You guessed it wasn't just a myth, people truly didn't have had value for things or others until they were gone. She ruffled a hand through her ebony and violet hair and you repeated the words you were going to say under your breath. You could do this, you could salvage the shreds of your friendship. Before you could begin your trek over to her and her cousin, she turned around. Those steely grey eyes cut straight into your very soul and a part of you died inside.
"y/n! I'm so damn proud of you...oh, sweetie, I'm sure you'll make up with her. Time heals most things. Give give her some space to cool off, yeah?" Dionne advised, coming up behind you.
Frowning, you pressed your face into her chest, wrapping your arms around her. Ever since you met Eren, physical re-assurance was something you had grown quite to enjoy. Dionne was still upset about the fact you had crawled your ass home at some minutes past one. You had fobbed it off as some senior party, celebrating the end of the year, which you had been too afraid to tell her about. She wasn't mad that you had gone out to the supposed 'party', instead, she was concerned over the fact she had no idea where you were.
Dionne removed your graduation cap and patted the top of your hair. She had most definitely taken as many embarrassing photos of you as possible to brandish them to your parents. You hoped that you and Eren would find a way around his gang life so he could possibly meet your mom and dad.
"Miss Baptiste! I'm so glad I ran into you!" Called the voice of one of the PTA moms.
Delighted to have a mother's meeting, your aunt abandoned you in order to discuss mental well-being of teens. You ran your hands down your arms, feeling disgusting in your own skin after what you did to Mikasa. Armin walked off from one of the art teachers, cherub cheeks glowing and brandishing that constant, Prince Charming smile that made most fall to their feet. He floated over to Mikasa and Levi, happily sliding into their conversation and laughing about whatever they were discussing.
That should be me. A dark inner part of you grumbled. But, in truth it shouldn't. Armin had earned the right to be Mikasa's close friend by sticking by her. But you? You had gone ahead and betrayed her trust like she meant absolutely nothing to you.
