Scoliosis: A sideways curvature of the spine, usually in a C-shape or an S-shape.
Spinal Fusion: A procedure that consists of a bone graft or two metal rods along two vertebrae in order to straighten the spine. The process usually takes three to six hours, but can be longer in more severe cases.
Idiopathic: A term meaning, "no known cause".
Neuromuscular: Scoliosis that effects the nerves and muscles.
Congenital: Scoliosis that is present at birth, usually due to a birth defect, such as spina bifida or cerebral palsy.
