Christmas Holiday

Soon the first term was over. However my good mood stayed. While things with Dad were better, they still weren't the best and we had arguments constantly. I wrote to him once a week but they weren't that descriptive, just saying the few highlights. My letter one week was a bit different.

Dear Dad, (it said)

How are you? At school it is a bit boring as we are going over everything we've learnt so far. The homework load isn't getting lighter but it all seems easy enough. As you know the holidays are drawing nearer, and while I know you expect me to come home I am afraid I can not. Our OWL's are this year and I' m sure you and I both want me to do well. Therefore, I am sorry to say that me and all the other fifth year students are having to stay at Hogwarts to study.

From,

Scorpius

I never knew how to sign off letters. Most people would say 'love' when writing to their family, but I as last year showed, I didn't have the average relationship with my family.

I didn't know how dad was going to react to this. I always came home during the holidays because my dad held a big Christmas party with all his friends, and as his heir, I was expected to be there. I sighed as I watched my owl fly away, wishing I was here and somewhere else at the same time.

"Scorpius, how long are you going to watch the stupid owl for!" Albus moaned, bringing me back to reality. I glared at him. "I was having a moment!" Albus rolled his eyes. He was even more grumpy then normal, and with him complaining about it every 5 seconds, it wasn't hard to figure out why.

"I can't believe I have to stay here all holiday" he complained "Dad didn't have to stay in school over Christmas because of OWL's!" I didn't want to point out that in Harry Potter's fifth year, during Christmas, he witnessed Arthur Weasley get attacked by a giant snake and had to take a portkey out of hogwarts without being caught by a crazy profesor as that might of made him even madder. "It's only because he had a stupid bet with uncle Ron that he could be a better parent. It's not like it's going to make a difference. Rose's mum is Hermione fucking Granger! Of course Rose is going to have a better parent experience." I wanted to comfort him but I knew it was true. I changed the subject.

"Did you hear James and Fred are setting up a big Christmas party?" I added, trying to light the mood. "You say that as if we're going to be invited." Albus responded. My heart broke a bit. Albus thinks that because he is in Slytherin his whole family hates him. "I got an owl with our invitations yesterday" I responded, smirking "Oh." Albus said, shocked that someone actually showed him kindness. "I guess that's something to look forward to then..." I smiled.

"Yeah"

Authors note:

I hate this chapter more than I hate the other ones (which is really saying something). I just needed to write it for the next chapter to make sense (I'm really excited about writing it! a LOT of things happen!) Hoped you enjoyed the Chapter!
