Starling

Your eyes are like hurricanes
They promise destruction and chaos, but I fell in love with the way waves crashed over your cheeks and dribbled down your face, burning your flesh like tears of acid.

You are the blood that drifts in the water like plastic in the wind, devoid of purpose or direction, that draws sharks near, turns the water red.
You are the spills of oil in water when rainbow swirls infect the sea and coloured light bounces off the surface of water that you've ruined.
You are the salt in bloody wounds that you yourself have caused.

You pollute like an oil spill
You blacken water, you poison life
Your beauty is beyond compare and I have spent years staring at the way you sit atop the ocean.
You fly free, you skim the sea
But the water weighs down your wings and suddenly you're drowning, swallowed by a doom you have predicted but chose to seek nonetheless.

Your colours shift with the sky,
And I,
Have never understood you.

You shine every colour,
You reflect the light of stars,
My darling, my Starling,
You have stained the sea and stained my heart; my waters darken at the thought of you
My seafoam runs grey and you've left plastic in the water.

My darling starling, oh what have you done to me?
Oh, my darling, oh my starling, oh what have you done to the sea?
My darling starling, oh what have you done?
