"hello, welcome to the neighborhood," my mom said, letting them in.

"thank you. i'm liz and these are my three sons, ben, jack, and luke," she said pointing at each boy. the one that freaked out at the store was luke.

"i'm karen and this is my son michael," my mom said and lead them to the our kitchen.

we all sat down. i sat down next to my mom. liz across my mom, like next to her, jack next to luke, and ben next to me.

my mom served all of us the chicken alfredo and caesar salad.

"so how old are your sons?" my mom asked liz.

"ben is 23, jack is 21, and luke is 19," liz said.

"michael is also 19," my mom told her, smiling.

luke started fidgeting in his seat. he seemed nervous.

"so, are you guys in college?" my mom asked them.

"ben and i are," jack said and my mom nodded.

"how about you luke?" she asked him. i looked up at him. he opened his mouth slightly, but nothing came out.

he looked frozen. he then just got up, and ran out. liz looked embarrassed.

"i'm so sorry, he does that a lot," she apologized.

"it's okay," my mom said. "may i ask, why did he run out?"

"well he has quite a lot of strange fears. and one of them is that he's afraid of having conversations at dinner," she said. we nodded.

"oh," my mom said. she nodded. then there was an awkward silence. we all finished our food in silence.

"well thank you for the dinner karen," liz said and smiled.

"you're welcome, i hope you guys like this neighborhood," my mom said and we walked them out the door.

they said good bye and so did we. we walked back inside.

"well that was an um," my mom started off. "interesting dinner."

i nodded.

"yeah," i said and helped her wash the dishes.

after i finished helping with the dishes, i headed up to my room.

how could someone be afraid of talking at dinner? it doesn't make sense.

but who am i to judge?

i watched a few episodes of friends and then knocked out.
