You were so tired and confused that all you wanted to do was make your way back to the common room and go to bed. You didn't even mind when you heard growling coming from a mere few feet away........" wait", you thought. You turn around and see a big werewolf staring at you don't, barely just a few feet away.
You hastily grab your wand and point it at the creature. A dozen things going through your mind as if Hogwarts Express has been zooming in circles around your brain.
"What the hell is a Werewolf doing here!?" you thought.
"and how did it get into the school??"
You don't let the hungry-looking beast out of your sight. You've read many books about the nature of werewolves and knew that they didn't spare anyone if they were hungry. You had a best friend in primary school named Sofia. You were both 6 and as normal 6-year-old little girls would do, you went outside to play on a sunny day. You lived in a safe neighborhood where barely ANYTHING happened and therefore your mothers trusted the fact that you girls would be safe under the watch of them and the trusting neighbors.
You and Sofia went outside as you've done many times before and headed into the back garden where you liked to play house when you both heard rustling. Then you saw eyes...The creature didn't give you any time to process what was happening before it pounced on poor Sofia. She screamed louder than you'd ever heard anyone scream. You KNEW she was in pain. You were frozen for far too long before you decided it was time to run. Run as fast as you can. And that's what you did. You didn't stop until you reached your mother's bedroom door where you began pounding and screaming as much as your little body would allow.
You frantically led your mother to the gruesome sight, but it was too late... Sofia, (or what was left of her) was dead. Her mother, understandably, was devastated. She didn't leave the house or was ever seen in the community, for 3 months. And after those 3 months, she was still immensely depressed. You and your mother moved away the next year.
You didn't want that for your mom. You didn't want to leave her with bills and your pet dragon named Dexter who had a failed kidney. You especially didn't want your life to end right then and there and have everyone find your body the next morning wondering what made her have such a heart attack that she died.
No.
"if I'm gonna die, ill at least leave behind a scene worth dying for." You thought before you shot jinx after jinx of jinxes you know and have learned in your previous wizarding school.
The first jinx that you shot at the beast that seemed to effectively do anything, was the leglock jinx. It fell and as it was starting to get up,
"PETRIFICUS TOTALLUS!!" you shout while pointing your wand violently at the werewolf.
It suddenly dropped as if were dead but was still breathing.
This time, you didn't waste any time before you started running to the dungeons to the Slytherin common room.
Once you have closed yourself inside there, you freeze. It begins to get harder to breathe and you are starting to sweat all over, not to mention feeling unbearably nervous.
You sit in front of the emerald fire and try to catch your breath, resting your face in your hands as you start to cry from panicking.
'That could've been it. You could've ended up just like Sofia' you tell yourself in your head. Telling yourself how cowardly you handled the entire dangerous situation.
'your such a f***king embarrassment to your entire family.'
"you ok??" you hear someone talking over your thoughts. It was Draco.
"oh, ya," you say, as you try your best to hide the fact that you've been crying but your face was drenched in tears and your voice was so quivery it sounded like you were choking.
You continue to stare intently at the fire, not daring to look at anything else.
"Are you sure?", he says, while coming closer to the couch you were sitting on. "Because that looks like a pretty nasty cut on your shoulder there," he says while looking genuinely concerned.
"oh, ugh, SH*T! I didn't even notice it touched me" you say.
You didn't even remember the werewolf coming within reach of you. Then again, you don't really remember much of the encounter anyway.
"Let me walk you to madame Pomfrey's," He says while holding out his hand.
"no, it's alright. It's just a cut. I can tend to it tonight in my dorm room." You say
You watch him as he looks mildly embarrassed he puts his hand back in his pocket.
"Well, may I at least ask how you got the nasty cut?" He asks while taking a seat next to you on the sofa.
"Why? aren't you tired? And I thought you were mad at me. Your Draco Malfoy, don't you have a reputation yo keep?" you say mildly annoyed.
"Fine, I'll leave. I am rather tired anyway. Just thought you might like an outlet." He says while prepping himself to leave.
"No. I'm sorry. I just find it hard to trust people." You say, rubbing the nasty cut on your shoulder as it stings.
"I encountered a werewolf," you say.
He looks terrified, then angry.
"A werewolf did this!? Where is it now!?" He says, genuinely looking terrified now.
"I don't know, but I was able to fight it off and jinx it long enough to getaway. I f**king hate werewolves. I and them have a forever tainted history." you say, clenching your fists and starting to feel anger rise in you.
"May I ask what the history is?" he asks
"I wish I could tell you, but I don't think I'm ready to yet." You say, tears starting to form in your eyes.
He can see you are uncomfortable and begins to stare at the fire.
"But, I'll make sure to tell you as soon as I am ready," you say.
"Maybe sometime after dinner? Tomorrow night in the Great Hall??" he asks.
'is he asking me out?? seriously? When I look all bloody and sweaty and discussing??' you thought. However, as weird as you thought it was, you couldn't tell him no.
"Sure. Maybe I'll tell you then." You say looking up at him and faintly smiling.
He gets up to leave and before going up the staircase to the boy's dormitories he turns around and says,
"Y/N,?" He hesitates. It seems a little difficult for him to say whatever he is going to say.
"I think you're very fearless for fighting him off like that. And the fact that you didn't even realize you had a cut on your arm before I said something just adds to my point," he says.
"oh, umm, thanks Draco. That means a lot to me. Really." you say. After you were beating yourself up for being so "cowardly" it was nice to hear some kind words.
"Now go take a shower, you smell horrendous." He says, before walking up to the boys' dormitories.
'Well that was......something.' you thought to yourself, as he leaves you alone dumbfounded for the second time that day.
