"look mom all i'm saying is maybe next year." i shurgged, mom has been on my head the whole time i've been here about, "where's jack?" or, "you should have brought him again." i didn't feel the need to clarify my reasons that i decided against bringing my boyfriend with me especially since the whole family's here.

and especially not on christmas, ever since i brought jack to visit my parents, my mom constantly wants to know how we're doing. today was a prime example. my mom wanted to know if jack was "eating right with them white folks." and i'm not gonna lie that made me laugh.

i would've been sad that he wasn't here but my family made excellent company and kept my thoughts away from jack. i don't know where my gifts from him are since my mom took them straight from me when i stepped past the threshold.

i was mad as fuck- i was gonna open them as soon as i got here. i knew maggie did the same to jack when he got there because she told me.

my aunt tapped on my shoulder, "baby how are you doing?" auntie diana smile at me, she was the "in your business aunt" but i loved her all the same.

i smiled back and gently grabbed the present out her hands, "all good over here didi" i said as i tucked the present under my arm.

"still no baby?" she fake pouted as she rubbed my belly, i blinked twice. see what i was talking about?

"still no baby." my eyes widened in amusement, sometimes i forget how my family made me laugh. i try to take everything as a joke since black people don't know what minding their own business was.

it was either that or have a attitude all time, if my teen years taught me anything it's that having a attitude over the things this family says is a waste of time.

"diana leave that girl alone." my uncle terrence came to save me, he was didi's husband. as you can tell he kept her in line from saying outta pocket things.

"hush, you know we've been waiting for the day we get to help her plan her baby shower." my aunt shushed him, i just sipped on my egg nog (non alcoholic).
